EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: WALLER SHIFTS RATE OUTLOOK, GOLD SURGES TO $4,508, BITCOIN BREACHES $80,000

September 4, 2026 โ€” Global markets rallied strongly on Thursday as Fed Governor Christopher Waller signaled support for a rate pause at the September FOMC meeting, triggering a broad risk-on rally across asset classes. Wall Street surged more than 1%, with the Dow gaining over 500 points, as Treasury yields fell sharply from multi-year highs . European markets followed suit, with the STOXX 600 rising 0.49% and the DAX gaining 0.63% .

Gold surged 2.1% to $4,508/oz as fading rate-hike bets and Middle East tensions boosted safe-haven demand . Oil prices held gains, with Brent at $96.40 (+0.8%) and WTI at $92.09 (+1.2%), supported by ongoing US-Iran tensions . Bitcoin broke above $80,000 for the first time in over a week, reaching $80,000+, as reduced Fed rate-hike odds and improving risk appetite fueled the rally .

Asian markets closed the week on a positive note Friday, with the Nikkei rising 1.3% to 65,020.94 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng jumping 1.7% . Indian markets saw mixed stock-specific movements as the NSE and BSE remained open for trading despite Janmashtami being a bank holiday .

01 US EQUITIES โ€” WALLER’S DOVISH SHIFT SPARKS RALLY

US stocks surged more than 1% on Thursday as Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller signaled he would support a rate pause at the September FOMC meeting if inflation pressures continue to ease . The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield fell to around 4.77%, retreating from its highest level since November 2023, while the 2-year yield sensitive to near-term monetary policy declined to 4.322% .

Key Drivers:

  • Waller’s Dovish Comments: The Fed Governor’s remarks provided the main catalyst, easing market concerns about aggressive rate hikes .
  • Treasury Buyback Support: The Treasury’s expanded buyback program, doubled to at least $4bn per operation, continues to support bond markets .
  • Tech Sector Strength: Software stocks rallied, extending gains from earlier in the week .

Hedge Fund & Private Equity:
Private equity stocks have been rallying in tandem with software stocks, though investor nervousness persists. Blackstone’s BCRED private credit fund reported third-quarter redemption levels of 10%, matching the June quarter, indicating that while stocks have rallied, investors in these funds remain cautious .

Market Breadth:
New York stocks broadly participated in the rally, with all major indices posting gains exceeding 1% .

02 EUROPEAN MARKETS โ€” FOLLOW WALL STREET HIGHER

European markets closed higher on Thursday, ending a three-day losing streak as concerns over global bond market selling eased and investors awaited US economic data for clues on Fed rate policy .

CAC 40 (France)8,286.40+0.07%

European markets were supported by the broader easing of bond market pressure, which had been weighing on equities earlier in the week. Investors focused on upcoming US jobs data to assess the Fed’s rate path .

03 ASIAN MARKETS โ€” MIXED WEEKLY CLOSE

Asian markets closed the week on a positive note Friday, with most regional benchmarks gaining ground following Wall Street’s tech-led rally .

04 OIL MARKETS โ€” HOLD GAINS ON HORMUZ CONCERNS

Oil prices held firm on Friday, capping a strong weekly performance. Brent crude rose 0.8% to $96.40/barrel, while WTI gained 1.2% to $92.09/barrel . For the week, Brent was up roughly 7%, while WTI had gained close to 10%, marking oil’s strongest weekly performance since July .

Key Drivers:

  • US-Iran Tensions: Ongoing military confrontations in the Strait of Hormuz continue to support prices .
  • Brent Technical Resistance: The key resistance is the recent $97.40-$98.30 region, with a sustained break above potentially opening the way toward $100.00 .
  • Risk of Escalation: Further escalation in the US-Iran conflict could push Brent decisively above $100 .

Analyst View:
“Oil remains elevated with Brent trading around $97 a barrel. The key variable remains the US-Iran conflict and the Strait of Hormuz. Further escalation could push Brent decisively above $100, while progress toward de-escalation could remove some of the geopolitical risk premium” .

05 GOLD โ€” SURGES 2.1% TO $4,508/oz

Gold prices surged 2.1% to $4,508/oz on Thursday as fading Fed rate-hike bets and ongoing Middle East tensions boosted demand for the precious metal .

Key Drivers:

  • Dovish Fed Pivot: Reduced expectations for a September rate hike weakened the dollar and lowered Treasury yields, supporting gold .
  • Geopolitical Risk: The ongoing US-Iran conflict continues to drive safe-haven demand .
  • Technical Levels: Gold needs to regain $4,500 to restore strong upside momentum. The first important support area is $4,420-$4,430, followed by $4,320 .

Outlook:
“Gold remains in a strong long-term bullish structure. A break above $4,500 would strengthen the recovery and could eventually put the record high back in focus” .

06 CRYPTO MARKETS โ€” BITCOIN BREACHES $80,000

Bitcoin broke above $80,000 for the first time in over a week as reduced Fed rate-hike odds and improving risk appetite fueled the rally . The cryptocurrency initially struggled below $80,000 after the hawkish Fed environment pushed yields and the dollar higher, but Waller’s dovish comments triggered a sharp recovery, with Bitcoin briefly approaching $82,000 .

Key Dynamics:

  • Fading Rate-Hike Bets: Waller’s dovish shift provided the main catalyst for the breakout .
  • Short Covering: The rally was amplified by short covering, raising questions about the sustainability of the move without continued ETF inflows and fresh spot demand .
  • Ethereum Recovery: Ethereum also recovered toward $2,500 .

Outlook:
“The sustainability of the move will depend on continued ETF inflows and fresh spot demand” .

07 US HOUSING MARKET โ€” MORTGAGE RATES EASE SLIGHTLY, LISTINGS AT 4-YEAR HIGH

Mortgage Rates (September 4, 2026)

Mortgage rates saw small downward fluctuations on Friday after a week of increases .

Mortgage TypeRatePreviousChange
30-Year Conventional6.759%6.810%-0.051%
15-Year Conventional5.946%5.980%-0.034%
30-Year Jumbo6.799%6.830%-0.031%
30-Year FHA6.137%6.161%-0.024%
30-Year VA6.227%6.252%-0.025%

Key Insights:

  • A 30-year mortgage at 6.759% on a $300,000 loan would result in roughly $401,132 in interest over the life of the loan .
  • A 15-year mortgage at 5.946% on the same $300,000 loan would result in roughly $154,108 in interest .

Housing Market Update

New Listings Hit 4-Year High

New listings of U.S. homes for sale rose 2.1% from a week earlier on a seasonally adjusted basis, reaching their highest level in four years .

Key Data:

  • Pending Home Sales: Essentially flat (-0.1%) from a week earlier, dipping to their lowest level since February .
  • Home-Sale Price: The typical U.S. home-sale price rose 2.2% year-over-year .
  • Median Asking Price: Inched down 0.1% year-over-year, suggesting sellers may be adjusting expectations .
  • Bidding Wars: Over one-quarter (25.9%) of homes sold went for over asking price .

Market Assessment:
“The disconnect between growing listings and sluggish sales is exacerbating the buyer’s market we’re seeing in most of the country” . High housing costs remain the biggest hurdle for prospective buyers .

08 UPCOMING EVENTS โ€” FOCUS ON JOBS DATA

Friday, September 4:

  • US Non-Farm Payrolls (key event of the week)
  • US Unemployment Rate
  • US Average Hourly Earnings
  • Treasury Buyback Operation: September 9 buyback will test whether the Treasury can improve liquidity at the margin as the market absorbs fresh supply .

Market Expectations:

  • A weak payrolls report would reinforce Waller’s dovish position, potentially pushing Treasury yields and the dollar lower while supporting gold, Bitcoin and equities .
  • Conversely, stronger employment and wage data could revive expectations for a September hike, strengthening the dollar and yields and putting pressure on risk assets .

The Strait of Hormuz Crisis: Underwater Drones, Territory Claims, and the U.S.-Israel Fault Line

The Strait of Hormuz Crisis: Underwater Drones, Territory Claims, and the U.S.-Israel Fault Line

Unlock the Full Truth: berndpulch.org/join

A dramatic escalation in the Strait of Hormuz, a deepening rift between Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, and a series of bellicose statements from both leaders have pushed the Middle East to the brink of a wider conflagration. In a span of 24 hours, Iran struck two oil tankers with underwater drones in the strategic waterway, President Trump floated declaring the strait a U.S. territory, and Israel’s prime minister lobbed a diplomatic grenade at Britain while accusing Iran of seeking nuclear weapons.

Iran’s Underwater Drone Gambit

The United Arab Emirates has formally accused Iran of using underwater drones to attack two oil tankers operated by its state-owned company, ADNOC, as they transited the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday evening. The strikes mark the first known use of this tactic against commercial vessels in the strategic chokepoint.

According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the attacks caused minor damage but no casualties. However, the incident adds to a growing tally of 17 ADNOC vessels that have been targeted by drones or missiles since the beginning of the U.S.-Iran conflict. In the first week of August alone, three attacks resulted in one sailor killed and 20 injured. The UAE has condemned the strikes as “acts of piracy”.

The attacks come as Tehran has issued a stark warning to Washington. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that Iran will continue to control traffic through the strait until the U.S. “accepts defeat”. “The Strait of Hormuz remains blocked and will not be reopened until Iran’s conditions are accepted,” he declared.

Trump’s Territorial Ambition

In a stunning declaration that has drawn widespread international alarm, President Donald Trump announced he would “soon” declare the Strait of Hormuz a U.S. territory “after we finish defeating Iran”. Speaking to reporters, Trump said, “which is being very badly defeated โ€” pretty soon I’ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States,” adding with a chuckle, “It’s true”.

However, later reports suggested Trump was “joking”. Regardless of the president’s intent, the statement has escalated tensions, with U.S. media reporting it as a serious provocation. Iran has dismissed Trump’s claims of control as “fake information”.

The U.S.-Israel Rift Widens

As the crisis in the Strait unfolded, a parallel drama was playing out in Washington and Jerusalem. For the fourth time in recent weeks, President Trump has reportedly stopped short of endorsing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s October 27 election.

Axios reported that Trump has not given Netanyahu the support he seeks, with observers pointing to the Israeli premier’s declining popularity in the polls as a possible reason. In June, Trump had acknowledged he would “most likely” endorse Netanyahu but said he would first have to see who he was running against.

Netanyahu’s Nuclear Warning

In a radio interview released Thursday, Netanyahu sparked a diplomatic outcry by referring to Britain as the “Islamic Republic of Britain”. “Someone said that the first Islamic republic with nuclear weapons will be the Islamic Republic of Britain,” he said. “We are making sure there won’t be another one here, in Iran”.

The remark, intended as a joke, came as Israel continues to focus on Iran’s nuclear program and amid souring UK-Israel ties over the Gaza war. It drew sharp criticism both in Israel and abroad.

Conclusion

The converging crises โ€” Iran’s underwater drone attack, Trump’s territorial threat, and Netanyahu’s provocative rhetoric โ€” paint a picture of a region sliding toward instability. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global oil shipments, has become the epicenter of a high-stakes confrontation that could reshape the Middle East.

Die StraรŸe-von-Hormus-Krise: Unterwasser-Drohnen, Gebietsansprรผche und die US-israelische Bruchlinie

Unlock the Full Truth: berndpulch.org/join

Irans Unterwasser-Drohnen-Manรถver

Trump Escaped Iran Assassination Plot in Catering Truck โ€“ Secret Air Force One Decoy Operation Revealed

Trump’s Secret Catering Truck Escape from Turkey: How the President Evaded an Iranian Assassination Plot

President Donald Trump was secretly smuggled off Air Force One in an airport catering truck last month and flown to Britain on a covert military aircraft after U.S. intelligence received a credible Iranian threat to assassinate him, according to multiple reports. The extraordinary deception operation, which kept journalists and even some White House staff in the dark, has sparked calls for congressional briefings and raised new questions about the escalating conflict with Iran.

The Catering Truck Ruse

On July 8, 2026, President Trump attended a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey. As he prepared to depart, he boarded the older, baby-blue Air Force One aircraft in full view of television cameras. He had publicly announced he would use the older plane “for old time’s sake” while sending the newer Qatari-donated jet to a UK base so service members could tour it.

But moments after boarding, Trump was secretly transferred from Air Force One to an airport catering truck that had been elevated to plane level on the opposite side of the aircraft. The truck then drove him across the tarmac to a smaller Air Force C-32A military aircraft โ€” a modified Boeing 757 often used by the vice president.

The C-32A, using the call sign “Reach 18” instead of “AF1,” flew Trump to Britain. Meanwhile, the older Air Force One continued to use the “AF1” call sign and carried journalists and some White House staff who believed the president was still on board. They were reportedly told to keep their window shades closed for the entire flight.

“They wanted me to go in a different flight, different plane,” Trump later told reporters, confirming the switch. “I just have to do what they say.”

The Iranian Threat

The operation was triggered by a credible Iranian assassination threat. According to the Washington Post, U.S. intelligence had received information that Iran was planning to target Trump’s aircraft. Officials told CBS News that the U.S. had detected a credible Iranian threat to fire a missile at the plane.

Israeli intelligence reportedly alerted the United States to the threat, indicating that Iran was planning to target Trump’s aircraft with shoulder-fired missiles. According to The Wall Street Journal, several senior Trump administration officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, remained aboard the decoy Air Force One.

The clandestine maneuver came just one day after the U.S. renewed military strikes on Iran following a breakdown in negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Iran shares a border with Turkey, where Trump had traveled for the NATO summit.

The Decoy Flight

The deception was remarkably elaborate. Journalists who thought they were traveling with Trump on the older Air Force One were instructed to keep their window shades in the press cabin closed. Some White House staff members also reportedly believed the president was on board.

When asked later by reporters why they had to keep their shades shut during the flight, Trump said it was because they were “probably on a dangerous flight”. He went on to say: “But if I go, you go. Right?”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth boarded the C-32A separately using external stairs in an effort to make the flight appear normal. A media pool producer noted there appeared to have been two catering trucks at both the front and back of the plane, and that the media van had been too far back in the motorcade to photograph the president boarding.

The C-32A carrying Trump arrived in Britain at around 10:20 p.m., with the older Air Force One and the media arriving minutes later. It remains unclear how Trump was transferred back to the older Air Force One.

Political Reactions

The revelation has sparked immediate political backlash. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for an immediate congressional briefing on the Iranian threats and the “extraordinary measures” taken to evacuate Trump.

“It is unacceptable that Congress was kept in the dark and instead learned about this serious threat through press reports,” Schumer said on X. He also criticized the Trump administration over its handling of the conflict with Iran, accusing the president of putting U.S. personnel “in harm’s way” by pursuing what he described as an unnecessary war.

Schumer called on Congress to reassert its constitutional authority and work to end the conflict, saying Republicans should not prioritize Trump’s “luxury and vanity” over U.S. security.

Trump’s Response

The president has confirmed the plane switch but downplayed the threat. “I guess there was a threat out there,” he said. “I didn’t really ask too much about it. I get a lot of threats.”

He also suggested that the military jet he boarded was actually at “greater risk” than the decoy plane. “I think actually the plane that I flew on was at greater risk! I think it was at greater risk because that would be the plane, I think that they would be more likely to go for it,” Trump added.

When asked why journalists had to close their window blinds, Trump said: “Well, yeah, because you’re probably on a dangerous flight because of the sleaze bags that we have to deal with.”

Historical Parallels

The operation echoes a similar deception in 2000, when President Bill Clinton flew into Pakistan aboard an unmarked executive jet while sending the official Air Force One as a decoy. But the catering truck ruse โ€” reportedly involving a vehicle typically used to load food and beverages โ€” adds an almost cinematic element to Trump’s escape.

The Bigger Picture

The extraordinary security measures underscore the escalating danger of the U.S.-Iran conflict. With Iran sharing a border with Turkey, Trump’s presence at the NATO summit in Ankara placed him within striking distance of Iranian retaliation. The threat, reportedly involving shoulder-fired missiles, highlights the growing capability and willingness of Iran to target U.S. leadership directly.

For Trump, who has repeatedly claimed he is Iran’s “number one target,” the catering truck escape is a stark reminder of the very real dangers of the war he has escalated. For the journalists and staff left on the decoy plane, it was a harrowing revelation that they had been unwitting decoys in a high-stakes game of international brinksmanship.

Juli 2026 nahm Prรคsident Trump an einem NATO-Gipfel in Ankara, Tรผrkei, teil.
