How could it be that the head of risk management at Silicon Valley Bank cared more about her gay and lesbian agenda than her actual job? Meanwhile, more and more is becoming known about the background to the second largest bank failure in the USA.
The more that becomes known about the collapse of “Silicon Valley Bank,” the greater the amazement. Apparently, between April 2022 and January 2023, the bank operated without a chief risk officer, or head of risk management. The former head of the department, Laura Izurieta, left SVB Bank in April 2022, and the position was not filled until January 2023. “I am excited to lead and continue to grow SVB’s outstanding risk management team,” Kim Olson said Jan. 4 at her introduction. Her joy didn’t last long. Exactly nine weeks later, the bank closed. For the eight months between April 2022 and Jan. 4, 2023, Jay Ersapah, who served as head of risk for the bank in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, was also responsible for the U.S. on a transitional basis. And apparently, true to the slogan “Get woke, go broke,” that’s when the disaster began.
The interim manager was active. Very much so. Jay Ersapah, who describes herself as a “queer, working-class person of color,” did a lot for her “community” in those eight months. That didn’t mean the bank’s employees or customers, though. She organized quite a few LGBTQ+ initiatives during that time, including “Lesbian Visibility Days” and “Trans Awareness Week.” She initiated “Safe Space” campaigns for employees, moderated the EMEA Pride Forum, and served as a panelist at the bank’s Global Pride Forum to share her “experiences as a lesbian of color.” She launched a month-long Pride campaign and a new blog emphasizing cerebral health awareness.
Risk management probably came up short with this mass of commitments. You just have to prioritize. And she did.
Before SVB’s demise, Ersapah was named one of the top 100 LGBTQ leaders by the business network Outstanding. “She is passionate about promoting LGBTQ awareness because she identifies as a queer person,” writes Shethepeople. Maybe a little too much? Get woke, go broke.
In a company video released just nine months ago, she said she “couldn’t be more proud” to work for SVB, helping “underrepresented entrepreneurs” there. She was highly praised as a “diversity role model.” “I feel privileged to spread awareness of lived queer experiences and create a sense of community for our LGBTQ+ employees and allies.”
Critics have long accused her of these activities, but were alternatively dismissed as homophobic or transphobic. Now what has to happen sooner or later when you allow people to manage money based on ideologies rather than competence has happened. After all, bonuses were still being paid to employees a few hours before the closure was announced. Jay Ersapah is also likely to have still benefited from this.
No wonder Peter Thiel was one of the first to warn his customers about Silicon Valley Bank and make sure they withdrew their money in time. Born in Frankfurt, Thiel is considered one of the most successful investors in the USA. He founded Paypal and was one of the first investors in Facebook. He considers woke ideology to be out of place in companies.
A few months ago, he invested in Strive, an asset management firm that invests in companies that “put profit over ideology,” in other words, that focus on economic success rather than the agenda of the holy trinity of the Awakened: Gender, Skin Color, and Sexual Orientation. The Pentagon announced the US Army had awarded Pfizer a $3.5 billion contract to manufacture 500 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine by the end of next year for distribution around the world.
The order matches the number of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses purchased by the US government under an agreement announced last year by the Trump administration. Last month, Pfizer announced that the latest batch of 200 million doses would be delivered between October of this year and April of 2022.

In a memo circulated by leadership, Google told employees that they must comply with vaccine policies or they face losing pay and then losing their job.
The document said most U.S. employees will fall under their vaccine requirements, which stem from President Biden’s executive order.
While much of the tech industry is delaying return-to-work plans, Google is gearing up to get back into the office and is showing little patience for the unvaccinated.
Google has told its employees they will lose pay — and will eventually be fired — if they don’t comply with the company’s Covid-19 vaccination policy, according to internal documents viewed by CNBC.
A memo circulated by leadership said employees had until Dec. 3 to declare their vaccination status and upload documentation showing proof, or to apply for a medical or religious exemption. The company said after that date it would start contacting employees who hadn’t uploaded their status or were unvaccinated, as well as those whose exemption requests weren’t approved.
The document said employees who haven’t complied with the vaccination rules by the Jan. 18 deadline will be placed on “paid administrative leave” for 30 days. After that, the company will put them on “unpaid personal leave” for up to six months, followed by termination.
A Google spokesperson said in a statement that, “our vaccination requirements are one of the most important ways we can keep our workforce safe and keep our services running,” and added that the company stands “behind our vaccination policy.”
While much of the tech industry continues to push back return-to-work plans and companies large and small prepare for a flexible future, Google is requiring its workforce to eventually come into physical offices three days a week at some point in the new year. And it’s showing limited patience for those who refuse to get vaccines, which have been widely available for months.
The Biden administration has ordered U.S. companies with 100 or more workers to ensure their employees are fully vaccinated or regularly tested for Covid-19 by Jan. 18. A federal court issued a stay on the order in early November, putting a halt to the administration’s efforts.
Still, Google asked its more than 150,000 employees to upload their vaccination status to its internal systems, whether they plan to come into the office or not, and the company indicated it plans to follow President Joe Biden’s executive order.
“We expect that almost all roles at Google in the US will fall within the scope of the executive order,” Google’s memo said. “Anyone entering a Google building must be fully vaccinated or have an approved accommodation that allows them to work or come onsite,” the company said, adding that “frequent testing is not a valid alternative to vaccination.”
Google and parent company Alphabet have been staunchly behind vaccines since the middle of the year.
CEO Sundar Pichai announced in July that the company would require vaccinations for those returning to offices. At the time, the plan was to reopen in January. But in early December, amid ongoing concerns about infection numbers, Google told U.S. employees it would not yet require them to return to offices. However, leadership encouraged employees to continue coming in “where conditions allow to reconnect with colleagues in person and start regaining the muscle memory of being in the office more regularly.”
The vaccine mandate has not been universally accepted by employees. Several hundred Google workers have signed and circulated a manifesto opposing the company’s requirements, which leadership said would apply to all employees, even those working from home, who engage directly or indirectly with federal government contracts.
In the latest guidance, Google details some options for those who don’t want to get to vaccinated. The company said employees can “explore” if there are any roles at Google that don’t conflict with the executive order. They can also request exemptions for religious beliefs or medical conditions, which Google previously said would be granted on a case-by-case basis.
For employees with roles that happen to fall outside the scope of the executive order that can also be performed out of the office, the company said they will be able to “permanently work remotely going forward.”

A drug industry whistleblower has come forward with leaked evidence showing that Pfizer falsified data, broke fundamental rules and delayed reporting adverse reactions in its Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) “vaccine” trials.
Brooke Jackson, who was recently fired from her position as regional director at the Ventavia Research Group, a Pfizer contract partner, told the British Medical Journal (BMJ) that multiple trials at several research sites in Texas produced flawed results based on these poor practices.
The Pentagon announced the US Army had awarded Pfizer a $3.5 billion contract to manufacture 500 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine by the end of next year for distribution around the world.
The order matches the number of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses purchased by the US government under an agreement announced last year by the Trump administration. Last month, Pfizer announced that the latest batch of 200 million doses would be delivered between October of this year and April of 2022.
In June, Pfizer and Germany-based BioNTech announced that they would provide 500 million doses “at a not-for-profit price” to the feds for distribution to more than 100 countries around the world, most of them in Africa.
“Our partnership with the U.S. government will help bring hundreds of millions of doses of our vaccine to the poorest countries around the world as quickly as possible,” Pfizer Chairman and CEO Albert Bourla said at the time. “COVID-19 has impacted everyone, everywhere, and to win the battle against this pandemic, we must ensure expedited access to vaccines for all.”
As the US site Privacy Affairs, which specializes in security, announced, hackers have just offered the data of 1.5 billion Facebook users for sale. Including the names, email addresses, places of residence and telephone numbers of those affected. A first data check showed that it is probably real user data from the social network. The Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and Whatsapp pages have been offline for hours for unknown reasons.

Moderna and Pfizer stand to bring in billions of dollars annually if regular boosters are needed.
