The Taliban hung the bodies of alleged kidnappers from a crane parked in a city square in Herat. According to the Taliban, they had shot dead four alleged kidnappers. The body was hung with a note, “whoever kidnaps others, will end up like this,” on the chest. The gruesome display comes after Mullah Nooruddin Turabi warned that extreme punishments would resume in Afghanistan #Taliban#Herat
One of the founders of the Taliban has said that “Cutting off of hands is very necessary for security”. In an interview Mullah Nooruddin Turabi who was the chief enforcer of its harsh interpretation of Islamic law when the Taliban last ruled Afghanistan said that the extremists will once again carry out the executions and amputations of limbs, perhaps not in public. He not only dismissed the executions carried out by the hard-lined movement in the past but declared that nobody should “tell us what our laws should be.”
Two Taliban fighters and three civilians were reportedly killed in an attack in Afghanistan’s Jalalabad. The attack comes a week after a series of bombings killed 3 people that was claimed by ISIS-K. Since the Taliban takeover on August 15, the ISIS movement in the country has rapidly increased. ISIS, with its agenda of a global Caliphate, announced the establishment of an Afghanistan branch in 2015. #Taliban#Jalalabad#ISISKhorasan#ISKP#Afghanistan
Sky News host Peta Credlin says images of hooded Afghan women in a Kabul lecture theatre “bust the myth” that the Taliban of 2021 is “gentler and kinder” than the Taliban of 2001. “According to reports they’re saying some of these women are wearing head coverings that completely cover their eyes,” she said. “Let’s be very clear about what this is. It is stone age stuff. “It’s grotesque, it’s evil, it diminishes women to the status of non-person. “Now think for a second about the pathetic insecurity at the heart of this ideology that permits it. “One that’s so terrified by the prospect of women and girls with identities and bodies and faces, even hands, that they imprison them under these cloaks of black and only allow the human woman to be seen in the home.”
Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, reacts to the FBI report claiming Saudi officials were in contact with 9/11 hijackers, arguing the U.S. needs to get to the root of it and that Saudi Arabia has to be ‘held accountable’ for attacks.
The Taliban has announced a caretaker cabinet for their keenly awaited govt in Afghanistan. The Taliban has appointed Mohammad Hasan Akhund as head of Afghanistan’s new caretaker government. The announcement of the acting cabinet is a key step in the formation of a permanent Taliban government. The Taliban has released a list of 32 posts assigned to the armed group’s top leaders and Haqqanis. The list includes 5 UN-designated terrorists who will lead the Taliban government. Sirajuddin Haqqani, who will be the interior minister in the government, is on the FBI’s most-wanted list. #TalibanGovernment#Afghanistan#HasanAkhund
The Taliban has announced the names of several acting cabinet ministers of a new caretaker government in Afghanistan led by Mohammad Hasan Akhund. Abdul Ghani Baradar will be the deputy leader and Sirajuddin Haqqani has been named as interior minister, chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said at a press conference on Tuesday. Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob, son of Mullah Omar, has been named as defence minister. Al Jazeera’s Charles Stratford reporting from Kabul said many of the names announced were “old faces”. There was no evidence of non-Taliban members in the lineup, a big demand of the international community.
After weeks of disagreements between different factions, the Taliban is said to have picked its head of the state. According to sources, Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund is likely to head the Taliban govt in Afghanistan. Sources say that the Taliban’s supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada picked Hasan Akhund for the post. Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund heads ‘Rahbari Shura’ or the leadership council of the Taliban. Mullah Hasan Akhund is a relatively lesser-known leader of the group who hasn’t been seen in the public yet. #Taliban#Afghanistan#MullahHasanAkhund#TalibanPM

Taliban has appointed Mullah Najibullah as its intelligence chief. Najibullah is closely linked to Pakistan’s ISI & was behind a 2013 attack on the Indian consulate in Jalalabad. Palki Sharma tells you more.
It is clear there was a “failure of intelligence” across the world when it came to the chaotic withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, says Sky News host James Morrow. This comes as UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab faces calls to resign after going on a family holiday to Cyprus in the days before Kabul fell to the Taliban.
Secretary Raab has revealed Five Eyes intelligence predicted there would be a steady deterioration in Afghanistan following the withdrawal of US troops and not a Taliban surge. “What he is talking about here is a failure of intelligence that we saw across the world,” he said. “We saw it in Washington; the Pentagon had no idea this was happening, clearly the Brits had no idea this was going to happen.”
An ‘extraordinary success.’ That’s what U.S. President Joe Biden called the end of America’s longest war. During an address to his nation, President Joe Biden defended his decision to pull troops out of Afghanistan before all Americans were airlifted. He has faced criticism for the chaos of the past few weeks, as Afghanistan rapidly fell under Taliban control. But Biden largely blamed Afghan forces – who were quickly defeated by the Taliban. So, should America have predicted the calamity that came with its withdrawal? And could this hurt its image on the world stage?
The secretive deal between Beijing and the Taliban has been revealed, after a leading Chinese professor favourably compared the Islamic fighting force to Communist China’s own Liberation Army (PLA). A leading Chinese professor and former diplomat Wang Yiwei appears to have backed the Taliban as the US continues its chaotic withdrawal from the country.
XI JINPING and Vladimir Putin have exchanged their views and found common ground on their outlook for Afghanistan. Here are the four key stipulations China has for the Taliban now the group is back in control in the country. All eyes are on Afghanistan now the Taliban has seized control of the country once again.
The utter capitulation of the Afghanistan government and its incompetent army is one thing. More shocking has been the humiliation of the American military and its commander-in-chief, President Joe Biden, accused around the world of being weak and indecisive.
But what’s most disturbing is the plight of millions of Afghans, especially women and girls, who are abandoned and now staring at futures more reminiscent of the dark ages. It’s a frightening time except for the Taliban, who’ve likely even surprised themselves at the ease with which they’ve regained control of this deeply troubled country.
