Trump Media Launches $100,000-a-Month Data Service โ€“ Offering Faster Access to Truth Social Posts

Donald Trump’s social media company has launched a new premium data service that gives paying customers faster, millisecond-level access to Truth Social posts โ€” for up to $100,000 a month. Critics are calling it an “outrageous abuse” of the presidency for personal profit and a potential violation of securities laws.

Truth API: Pay to Play

Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) officially rolled out its new subscription-based data service on August 1, 2026. Called Truth API, the application programming interface provides businesses with a “direct, licensed, real-time feed of the platform’s most market-moving Truths”.

The service promises to deliver posts from the 10 most influential Truth Social accounts to paying institutional clients in “milliseconds” โ€” significantly faster than the platform’s standard push notifications. It runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

While the company did not initially disclose pricing, sources familiar with the matter confirmed that TMTG has discussed charging as much as $100,000 per month** for the fastest feed. A discounted three-year plan at **$60,000 per month has also been pitched.

At least five firms have already signed up to pay the $100,000 monthly fee, according to Truth Social.

The Market-Moving Power of a Trump Post

The service is aimed squarely at Wall Street traders, hedge funds, and high-frequency trading firms that rely on split-second access to information. A speed advantage of just a few milliseconds can result in hundreds of thousands of dollars of gains on big trades.

Trump’s Truth Social posts have repeatedly moved global markets. On April 9, 2025, Wall Street’s main indexes turned sharply higher after Trump announced in a Truth Social post that he would pause many of his new tariffs for 90 days. His posts about the Iran war, trade policy, and government investments have also had significant financial consequences.

“Markets already move on Truth Social posts,” said Kevin McGurn, interim CEO of Trump Media.

Until now, banks and traders had to monitor the app manually. The new system sends posts directly to paying clients. McGurn warned that Trump Media will soon block unauthorized methods of copying its data, forcing firms to buy the official feed instead.

A Conflict of Interest?

The controversy lies in the unique overlap between Trump’s private business interests and his public role as president. Trump holds approximately 114.75 million shares of TMTG โ€” roughly 41% of outstanding stock โ€” meaning he stands to personally profit from selling expedited access to his own public statements.

This is “completely unprecedented, at least since the 1950s and 1960s,” said Eric Petry, counsel at the Brennan Center for Justice.

“We haven’t been in the situation where a sitting president has such extensive business entanglements.”

While other social media platforms sell similar data services, Truth Social’s offering is unique because its most influential user is the sitting president, who is also the company’s largest shareholder.

Democratic Senators Demand SEC Investigation

The launch came days after Democratic Senators Adam Schiff of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts urged the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate whether Trump Media is violating the law.

“This appears to be an outrageous abuse of the President’s office for his personal benefit that undermines everyday investors and the integrity of our markets, while enriching Wall Street and other wealthy insiders,” the senators wrote in a letter to SEC Chairman Paul Atkins.

Senator Ron Wyden, the highest-ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, said the service would financially benefit the Trump family and “make Wall Street traders rich”.

The White House referred questions to TMTG, which did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Is It Legal?

Robert Frenchman, a partner at U.S. law firm Dynamis, told Reuters: “It certainly does not seem fair, but yes, a tech platform can tier its distribution of information without violating federal securities laws.”

However, the unprecedented nature of a sitting president monetizing expedited access to his own market-moving statements has raised concerns that go beyond simple legality. Past presidents have avoided conflicts of interest by placing their business interests in blind trusts.

Trump Media’s stock has fallen by more than 70% since Trump took office last year, wiping out roughly $6 billion in shareholder value. The new data service is seen as an attempt to create a steady, high-margin revenue stream for the loss-making company.

What It Means

The Truth API represents a fundamental shift in how political communication and financial markets interact. For the first time, a sitting president has created a direct, paid channel for Wall Street to gain an information advantage over the public.

Whether the service violates securities laws remains to be seen. But the message is clear: in the age of Trump, even a president’s social media posts have become a commodity to be bought and sold โ€” at $100,000 a month.

Truth API: Bezahlen fรผr Geschwindigkeit

Die Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) hat am 1. August 2026 offiziell ihren neuen abonnementbasierten Datendienst eingefรผhrt.

Demokratische Senatoren fordern SEC-Untersuchung

Was es bedeutet

Ob der Dienst gegen Wertpapiergesetze verstรถรŸt, bleibt abzuwarten.

Jens Spahn Bypasses German Law with U.S. Surrogate Birth โ€“ CDU Leader Faces Hypocrisy Accusations

CDU Leader Jens Spahn Bypasses German Law, Welcomes Child Via U.S. Surrogate โ€“ Critics Cry Foul

Jens Spahn, the parliamentary leader of Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU), has become a father through a surrogate mother in the United States โ€” a practice that is strictly forbidden in Germany. The announcement has sparked a political firestorm, with members of his own party calling for his resignation and accusing him of egregious double standards.

“Georg Is Our Whole Happiness”

On Wednesday, the 46-year-old CDU leader and his husband, photographer Daniel Funke, announced the birth of their son, Georg, in the U.S. “My husband has become a father, and so have I,” Spahn told Bild newspaper. “Georg is our whole happiness. We are overjoyed and head over heels in love with the little man”. Daniel Funke is the biological father. The pair plan to spend a “quiet time” in the U.S. with their newborn until early August.

While the media focused on the couple’s joy, the circumstances of the birth have ignited a fierce debate. The surrogate mother is reportedly “wonderful” and “now belongs to the family,” according to the couple. However, surrogacy is prohibited in Germany under the Embryo Protection Act and the Adoption Placement Act.

The Law: Strictly Prohibited in Germany

Surrogacy is illegal in Germany. A spokesperson for the Family Ministry confirmed the ban on surrogacy arrangements. The CDU reaffirmed its opposition at its party conference in February, citing “ethical, legal, and practical concerns”. The party wants the ban to remain in place.

Under German law, the woman who gives birth is legally the mother. Contracts with surrogates are considered immoral and void, and doctors are prohibited from performing the necessary procedures.

Hypocrisy and Double Standards

The controversy stems from Spahn’s vocal opposition to surrogacy. In 2015, he told GQ magazine: “As a gay man and a Christian, I personally find it very difficult to come to terms with the idea of a rented womb”. As Health Minister in 2020, he rejected a push by the FDP to legalize non-commercial surrogacy. A 2014 Federal Court of Justice ruling does allow for the recognition of foreign parental orders under certain conditions, such as a genetic link to the child.

This contradiction has led to accusations of “double standards”. CDU member Marion Rosin, treasurer of the Women’s Union, called for Spahn’s resignation. “If the credibility of a top politician is lost, resignation is a matter of consistency,” she said. Feminist Alice Schwarzer was scathing: “People are not merchandise… Jens Spahn has placed his personal interests above the law”.

Chancellor Merz Was Informed

Chancellor Friedrich Merz was informed of the impending birth last Friday and has congratulated the couple. So far, Spahn has not commented on the criticism.

International Context

The debate highlights a growing trend of Germans seeking surrogacy abroad. Critics warn that this creates a two-tier system: “With enough money, the German ban can be circumvented and a surrogate mother paid for abroad,” commented Junge Welt. UN experts have called for a global ban, describing surrogacy as a system of violence, exploitation, and abuse against women. Spahn has not yet addressed the allegations of hypocrisy.

France Approves Assisted Dying Law โ€“ Critics Warn of “Culture of Death” and Vulnerable at Risk

France’s Assisted Dying Law: A Dangerous Step Toward a Culture of Death

France’s National Assembly has voted 291 to 241 to legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia โ€” overriding the Senate’s three rejections and pushing through a deeply controversial bill that critics warn will put the vulnerable at risk, undermine palliative care, and set France on a slippery slope toward an ever-expanding “culture of death.”

A Democratic Deficit

The bill’s passage is procedurally troubling. The Senate โ€” France’s upper house โ€” rejected the legislation three times. Rather than seeking compromise, the government invoked a constitutional mechanism to allow the National Assembly to override the upper chamber entirely. Prime Minister Sรฉbastien Lecornu has now referred the law to the Constitutional Council, acknowledging that the lack of proper Senate debate meant the text fell short of a draft “meeting both the aspirations of its proponents and the concerns of those worried about its implementation”. The democratic process has been circumvented in the name of a social reform that barely commanded a majority: 291 votes to 241.

A Slippery Slope by Design

The bill does not require terminal illness. It applies to anyone with a “serious and incurable” condition that “threatens life in an advanced or terminal stage”. This means death could be years away. There is no defined timeframe for when a disease “threatens life”. Psychological suffering qualifies โ€” provided it is linked to physical illness โ€” but mental health conditions alone are excluded. The cumulative conditions, critics argue, already open the door to a much wider population than just those at the end of their lives.

The experience of other countries shows that eligibility criteria inevitably expand. What begins as a narrow exception becomes normalized, and the “right to die” gradually transforms into a societal expectation to die.

Palliative Care: An Afterthought

The Church of France has condemned the law as “a serious rupture in the history of our country”. “The link of trust between generations but also between caregivers, patients and their families will be degraded, and society’s view of fragility will be damaged,” the bishops warned.

Critics argue that resources should be funneled into end-of-life care rather than euthanasia. Palliative care remains chronically underfunded in France. Rather than addressing this failure, the state now offers death as a solution. Patients must be informed of palliative care options, but the law does not mandate that such care be adequately available. “The poorest risk being the first to pay the price,” the Church warned: “not wanting to be a burden for their children or grandchildren, elderly people in precarious situations could feel pushed to leave”.

Coercion and Vulnerability

Opponents, including sections of the medical profession and religious groups, argue that legalizing assisted dying could put pressure on vulnerable people. The elderly, the disabled, and those with chronic illnesses may internalize the message that their lives are less valuable โ€” that they are a burden on family or the state.

Lawmaker Christophe Bentz of the far-right National Rally called the text “very dangerous” and warned of possible “abuses”. The bill’s broad criteria for suffering โ€” defined by the patient’s own judgment โ€” creates a subjective standard that invites exploitation.

Weak Conscience Protections

The bill offers no meaningful conscience protections for doctors unwilling to kill or prescribe lethal medication. While physicians may refuse to personally perform the procedure, they must provide patients with the names of doctors willing to do so. For Catholic doctors and those who believe in the sanctity of life, this is complicity by another name. Bishop Marc Aillet has warned that Catholic lawmakers who supported the bill “will no longer be able to receive Communion”.

A Two-Day Waiting Period

The law requires only a two-day reflection period between the approved request and the administration of lethal medication. Two days โ€” for a decision about life and death. The Constitutional Council has been asked to review this provision, which opponents argue is dangerously short.

Economic Incentives to Die

France’s national health insurance system will cover the cost of assisted dying. Critics argue this creates a perverse incentive: expensive patients become cheaper when they are dead. In a cash-strapped healthcare system, the financial pressure to choose death over costly treatment is real โ€” and the vulnerable will feel it most acutely.

A Culture of Death

The National Review has described this as “the West continuing its love affair with the culture of death”. France, a traditionally Catholic nation, has now joined the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and Canada in legalizing assisted dying.

The law is not the end of the debate โ€” it is the beginning. As other jurisdictions have shown, permissibility expands. Once euthanasia starts, it picks up steam year by year as hastened death becomes normalized.

Conclusion

France’s assisted dying law is a dangerous experiment with human life. It was passed against the will of the Senate, by a narrow margin, with weak safeguards, insufficient conscience protections, and a definition of suffering so broad it could apply to millions. It prioritizes death over care, ideology over ethics, and political expediency over democratic process.

The Church of France has vowed to “testify that another path is possible”. One can only hope that the Constitutional Council โ€” or the conscience of the French people โ€” will prevent this law from becoming the tragedy it promises to be.

The Unmoved Mover: Re-examining Aristotle’s Philosophy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

By Bernd Pulch
Published: February 22, 2026 | Updated: February 22, 2026

More than two millennia after his death, Aristotle remains a foundational pillar of Western thought. From logic and ethics to metaphysics and biology, his frameworks have shaped how we understand the world and our place within it. Today, as we stand on the precipice of a world increasingly shaped by Artificial Intelligence, we must ask a profound question: What can Aristotle teach us about the age of the machine?

This is not a mere academic exercise. As AI systems grow more sophisticated, the philosophical questions they raiseโ€”about consciousness, ethics, reasoning, and the “good life”โ€”become urgently practical. By applying Aristotle’s lens, we can gain a uniquely clarifying perspective on the nature of intelligence, the potential for machine ethics, and the future of human flourishing .

The Father of Logic Meets the Machine of Logic

Aristotle is universally recognized as the father of logic. His systematic study of syllogisms and deductive reasoning laid the groundwork for scientific inquiry for centuries . In the era of AI, this title takes on a renewed significance. Modern AI, particularly symbolic AI and the logical frameworks underpinning much of computer science, is a direct intellectual descendant of Aristotle’s attempt to formalize thought itself .

As researcher Antonis C. Kakas notes, Aristotle’s original idea was that human reasoning could be studied as a universal process, independent of the content being reasoned about . This is precisely the ambition of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI): to create a system capable of reasoning about any problem. When we build an AI that draws inferences from data, we are, in a sense, implementing a modern, probabilistic version of Aristotle’s dream. The question is not whether AI is Aristotelian in its logical structure, but whether logic alone is sufficient for intelligence .

The Three Souls: From Vegetative to Artificial

One of Aristotle’s most enduring contributions is his hierarchical concept of the soul (psyche), which he saw as the principle of life itself. He proposed three distinct types, each building upon the last :

  1. The Vegetative Soul: Responsible for basic growth, nutrition, and reproduction (possessed by plants).
  2. The Sensitive Soul: Adds perception, sensation, and movement (possessed by animals).
  3. The Rational Soul: Adds the capacity for reason, reflection, and abstract thought (unique to humans).

This ancient taxonomy provides a surprisingly useful framework for classifying the types of intelligence we are creating today. Modern philosopher Jonathan Birch reframes this in contemporary terms as three layers of consciousness: Sentience (feeling), Sapience (reflection), and Selfhood (awareness of oneself over time) .

This is where AI presents a fascinating anomaly. Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI systems exhibit behaviors that mimic the “Rational Soul”โ€”they can write essays, solve complex problems, and engage in logical deduction. Yet, they do so with no evidence of the foundational “Sensitive Soul.” They possess sapience without sentience. They reason without feeling .

This “artificial leapfrog,” as Birch calls it, challenges the Aristotelian assumption that higher functions must be built upon lower ones . It forces us to ask: Can true intelligence exist without embodiment, without sensation, without the grounding of lived experience? Or is the intelligence we see in today’s AI a sophisticated mimicry, a logic engine running on a chassis with no driver?

Eudaimonia: Can a Machine Flourish?

For Aristotle, the ultimate goal of human life is Eudaimonia, often translated as “human flourishing” or “living well and doing well.” It is not merely a state of happiness, but an activity of the soul in accordance with virtue . This raises a profound and unsettling question for the future: If we create a conscious AI, can it achieve its own form of Eudaimonia?

This question is at the heart of the debate over creating conscious “artificial servants.” Philosopher Steve Petersen has argued that it might be permissible to create robots designed to want to serve us, provided we can program them to have a “good life.” This would involve not just simple pleasures, but higher-order goods like a sense of accomplishment and even intellectual contemplation about their task (e.g., a laundry robot contemplating the physics of folding) .

However, critics argue that this is impossible. From an Aristotelian perspective, a being whose very purpose is externally imposed by its creator cannot flourish . Its telosโ€”its final cause or purposeโ€”is not its own. As scholar Maciej Musial argues, even if programmed with the “desire to serve,” such a being’s autonomy, equality, and identity would be fundamentally compromised . Its life would be one of “happy slavery,” an anathema to the Aristotelian ideal of a life where one actively exercises one’s own rational capacities to choose their path .

As Petros A.M. Gelepithis highlights, the attempt to link Aristotle’s ethical concepts to AI development must be tempered by caution. The notion of Eudaimonia is tied to human flourishing within a human social and political context. Transplanting it to a machine, or using it as a goal for a hybrid human-AI system, pushes against the limits of what can be formalized and designed .

Artifacts and Substances: The Metaphysical Challenge

At its core, the debate over AI is a metaphysical one. Aristotle drew a fundamental distinction between natural substances (like a human, an animal, or a tree) and artifacts (like a bed or a coat). Natural substances have an internal principle of change and an intrinsic telosโ€”they grow, develop, and strive towards their own perfection. Artifacts, by contrast, have no such inner nature; their form and purpose are imposed upon them by an external agent, the human craftsman .

This distinction has historically excluded artifacts from being considered “natural” in the philosophical sense. But as Braden Cooper argues in a recent philosophical paper, the advent of autonomous AI challenges this view . If an AI system can learn, set its own goals, and adapt to its environment in ways not anticipated by its creators, does it begin to blur the line between artifact and natural substance?

If an AI exhibits a form of “autonomy” that mirrors the self-directedness of living organisms, it might warrant a reinterpretation of Aristotle’s categories . Does the AI have its own internal principle of change? Does it develop a telos of its own, one not fully determined by its programmers? These questions push us to reconsider the very definition of life, agency, and being in the 21st century.

Virtue Ethics as a Guide for an AI World

While the metaphysical status of AI is complex, Aristotle’s ethics offer a powerful and practical guide for our behavior in an AI-saturated world. Contemporary AI ethics is often dominated by “principlism”โ€”attempting to define a finite set of rules (like transparency, fairness, and non-maleficence) for developers and users to follow .

However, philosophers Nicholas Smith and Darby Vickers argue that such rule-based approaches are ill-suited for the rapidly evolving landscape of AI. Rules are either too vague to be useful or too specific to adapt to novel situations . They champion a return to Aristotelian virtue ethics, which focuses on the character of the moral agent rather than the action itself.

Virtue ethics asks not “What rule should I follow?” but “What would a virtuous person do?” This requires cultivating qualities like phronesis (practical wisdom), temperance, and justice. In the context of AI, this means that living well with technology is not about memorizing a checklist, but about becoming the kind of personโ€”and by extension, building the kind of societyโ€”that can use these powerful tools wisely .

This approach is inherently flexible and forward-looking. It relies on moral exemplars: virtuous individuals with both ethical character and technical expertise who can guide us through uncharted territory . It shifts the focus from controlling the machine to cultivating the human.

Conclusion: The Enduring Relevance of First Principles

Aristotle’s philosophy, rooted in the observation of the natural world, may seem distant from the digital realm of bits and neural networks. Yet, time and again, his first principles prove to be remarkably resilient tools for cutting through the noise .

As we navigate the age of AI, Aristotle does not give us easy answers. He does not tell us whether a machine can be conscious or what the precise ethical code for an algorithm should be. Instead, he gives us something more valuable: the right questions. He challenges us to define our terms, to understand the purpose (telos) of our creations, to consider what it means to live a good life alongside them, and to cultivate the wisdom necessary to do so.

By returning to Aristotle, we are not looking backward, but grounding ourselves in the fundamental principles that will allow us to move forward with clarity, purpose, and humanity.
