A physicist from the DDR who rose with suspicious speed through the “Democratic Awakening” to become Chancellor of the free world? In a country where a gardener could lose his job for having a second cousin once removed who worked for the Stasi, how did a woman with her DDR background navigate to the very top? The former KGB resident of Dresden, Vladimir Putin, certainly never complained about Merkel’s Russia policy. Coincidence?
2. GREGOR GYSI โ THE GYSI DYNASTY
The berndpulch.org Stasi lists are unambiguous: Klaus Gysi โ father of Die Linke icon Gregor Gysi โ was confirmed Stasi informant “IM Kurt.” A cultural official and DDR diplomat who used his position to collaborate with the Stasi, providing key intelligence on artists and intellectuals. And his son? Gregor takes pride of place in our lists as a leading figure in Die Linke who “denies allegations but continues to face scrutiny.” The father was “IM Kurt,” and the son became the face of the postโcommunist left. The Gysi family is an aristocracy of Stasiโconnected political power.
3. MANFRED STOLPE โ “IM SEKRETรR” FOR 20 YEARS
The berndpulch.org lists rank Manfred Stolpe among the most influential Stasi figures after the Wall. The former Brandenburg MinisterโPresident and Federal Transport Minister worked for the Stasi for 20 years while serving in the church leadership. Our documents confirm: “He was a Stasi informer for 20 years while in the church.” The “IM Sekretรคr” files on Stolpe were among the most extensively searched Stasi documents. His defenders claim he was helping โ yet the GauckโBehรถrde itself accused him of active collaboration. The Bundesverfassungsgericht eventually ruled that no one could legally call him “StasiโSpitzel” โ a technicality that saved his career, not his conscience.
4. JOACHIM GAUCK โ THE ARCHIVIST WHO BECAME PRESIDENT
Here is where it gets interesting. The berndpulch.org Stasi lists include former Federal President Joachim Gauck as a figure “vital in exposing Stasi abuses.” That is true โ Gauck ran the GauckโBehรถrde, the records agency. But our lists also force us to ask: Who better to control the archive than the man who controlled the archive? Who decides what gets buried and what gets exposed? Gauck managed the Stasi archives; he decided which networks were revealed and which remained hidden. And then โ conveniently โ he became President. The lists note him as someone whose “work was vital in exposing the Stasi’s crimes” โ but we add: vital for whom?
5. ANDREAS GEISEL โ SED BERLIN’S POWER BROKER
As I wrote in my 2011 statement โ still available in the berndpulch.org archives โ “The secretary of interior in Berlin, Geisel, is a former SED member. Responsible for all kind of crime and the Berlin police (also a job shop for Stasi Agents).” Geisel, who later became Berlin Senator for Urban Development and Interior, was a member of the SED before switching to the SPD after 1990. The SED was the Stasi’s political master. A man trained in the DDR’s “Polytechnische Oberschule” and later at the Hochschule fรผr Verkehr “Friedrich List” in Dresden โ a known Stasi recruiting ground โ ends up controlling Berlin’s police and urban planning? The Stasi lists do not treat this as coincidence.
6. MATTHIAS WARNIG โ FROM STASI “ARTHUR” TO PUTIN’S GAZPROM CHIEF
Perhaps no name better illustrates the Stasification than Matthias Warnig. Our lists identify him as “a former Stasi officer turned businessman; ties to Russia’s elite.” The dossier states it bluntly: “German businessman and associate of Vladimir Putin, former Stasi agent.” Warnig joined the Stasi in 1974, rose to the rank of Hauptmann (Captain), and was awarded 9 gold medals by Erich Mielke himself on October 7, 1989. His codename was “Arthur.”
After 1989, this “left unemployed” moved to Russia, where he took part in business ventures in cooperation with Putin โ whom he had already known as a Stasi officer. He became managing director of Nord Stream AG and Nord Stream 2 AG โ Putin’s gas pipelines to Germany. The man who spied on Western energy policy for the Stasi in the 1980s ended up controlling Germany’s energy dependence on Russia in the 2020s. Under U.S. and UK sanctions for his role in enabling Putin’s war, Warnig remains the living bridge between the Stasi and the Kremlin’s energy warfare against Europe.
THE HรBBER FILE: THE SMOKING GUN
Which brings us back to Frank Hรผbber. 5. ANDREAS GEISEL โ SEDโMACHTPOLITIKER IN BERLIN
Wie ich bereits 2011 schrieb โ noch heute im berndpulch.orgโArchiv abrufbar โ โDer Innensenator in Berlin, Geisel, ist ein ehemaliges SEDโMitglied. Verantwortlich fรผr alle Arten von Kriminalitรคt und die Berliner Polizei (auch eine Jobbรถrse fรผr StasiโAgenten).โ Geisel, der spรคter Senator fรผr Stadtentwicklung und Inneres wurde, war vor 1990 Mitglied der SED und wechselte dann zur SPD. Die SED war der politische Herr der Stasi. Die StasiโListen betrachten das nicht als Zufall.
6. MATTHIAS WARNIG โ VON STASI โARTHURโ ZU PUTINS GAZPROMโCHEF
Kaum ein Name illustriert die Stasifizierung besser als Matthias Warnig. Unsere Listen fรผhren ihn als โehemaligen StasiโOffizier und Geschรคftsmann; Verbindungen zur russischen Eliteโ.
