President Xi Jinping shakes hands with Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, before awarding a China Reform Friendship Medal to the German economist. Only 10 foreigners received this medal.
|China has confined nearly 1,500 university students to their dormitories and hotels following an outbreak of COVID-19 in the northwestern city of Dalian. The order was issued Sunday after several dozen cases were reported at Zhuanghe University City and hundreds of students were transferred to hotels for observation. Students were attending class remotely and having their meals delivered to their rooms. The lockdown is the latest example of China’s zero-tolerance approach to the outbreak, which has brought considerable disruption to people’s lives and livelihoods. Quarantines, obligatory testing and travel restrictions have become a way of life for much of the population. The country’s vaccination rate is among the world’s highest and authorities are beginning to administer booster shots as winter descends.A Chinese city apologized and removed an employee from his post after he beat a dog to death while the owner was quarantining in a hotel with COVID-19. China is battling flare-ups of alleged COVID-19 cases, and its social media is awash with claims that some city authorities have turned to killing the pets of those who test positive to ensure the virus doesn’t spread further. Under Chinese law, animals infected with viruses can be killed during pandemics, but the law only extends to livestock, the South China Morning Post reported. However, the state-run Global Times newspaper said last month that it was permissible to slaughter domestic animals. On Friday, a woman in Shangrao in the eastern Jiangxi province, wrote on Weibo that city workers entered her apartment while she was quarantining in a hotel with COVID-19 and beat her dog to death. China plans to fully vaccinate all children between the ages of three and 11 against Covid-19 by the end of this year, even as some countries hesitate over greenlighting childhood inoculations before more data is available. The country has already fully vaccinated more than 75% of its 1.4 billion people, mostly adults and the elderly, with a slew of homegrown Covid shots. In recent weeks, the world’s most populous country has focused on rolling out boosters for adults and getting the initial shots in arms of teenagers and kids as young as three years old.|
A local Children’s Hospital reports that all three NICUs are full of infant patients with cardiac problems. How will the CDC and the White House whitewash infants with cardiac issues?
The CDC told pregnant women to get vaccinated based on a statement in a paper in NEJM that has since been retracted. But the CDC didn’t retract their advice when the paper was corrected (see the tiny little 1 at the top of the page).
I just received this email from a very trusted source. It sounds very credible to me, but I haven’t had time to confirm.
KLAUS SCHWAB’S BUDDY AND CO-AUTHOR OF THE BOOK “THE GREAT RESET”
In March 2014, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the Merieux Bioscience Research Center on his state visit to France. Alain Merieux together with his family members and the staff of the center extended a warm welcome to President Xi.
Alain Merieux’s family has a long relationship with China. His father-in-law Paul Berliet first introduced automotive industry technology to China and was a pioneer of Sino-French friendly cooperation.
In 1978, Merieux visited China for the first time and opened up extensive and lasting cooperation with Beijing in the fields of tuberculosis prevention, infection control, and prevention and control of new infectious diseases.
For decades, he kept promoting the medical cooperation between China and France. Having established production R&D bases and high-level biosafety laboratories in China, Merieux helped China improve its research in biomedicine and infectious disease prevention and control.
