State Department Exposes Cuba’s “Durable and Damaging” U.S. Espionage Campaign

State Department Exposes “Full History” of Cuban Espionage: Rubio Says Havana Is “Leading Sponsor of Radical Leftism”

The U.S. State Department has released a sweeping 100-page report accusing Cuba of running one of the most durable and damaging foreign intelligence penetration campaigns in American history โ€” allegedly infiltrating the highest levels of the U.S. government, cultivating generations of American activists, and backing “an unprecedented wave of left-wing terrorism” on U.S. soil.

The Report: “Cuba: The Capital of 21st Century Communism”

The report, titled “Cuba: The Capital of 21st Century Communism,” was released on July 20, 2026. It alleges that for nearly seven decades, the Cuban regime has waged a sustained campaign of subversion against the United States.

“For nearly seven decades, the Cuban regime has waged a sustained campaign of subversion against the United States,” the report begins. “It is a campaign that has infiltrated the highest reaches of the U.S. government, recruited and cultivated generations of American activists, backed an unprecedented wave of left-wing terrorism on American soil, and carried out one of the most durable and damaging foreign intelligence penetrations in American history.”

The report describes Cuba’s campaign as unique, with the small island nation having “perfected a new model for a long war of attrition, organized around espionage, infiltration, sabotage, proxy networks, and a revolutionary infrastructure designed to turn America against itself”.

Secretary Rubio’s Statement

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the son of Cuban immigrants and a longtime advocate of regime change on the island, made the announcement on social media.

“For more than six decades, the Cuban regime has been the leading sponsor of radical leftism and Third Worldism in the United States,” Rubio wrote. “The State Department is exposing the full history of Cuban espionage and subversion in our country.”

Rubio accused the Cuban government of running one of the most sophisticated infiltrations of U.S. politics, in part using the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

The Allegations: What the Report Claims

Infiltration of Government

The report alleges that Cuban intelligence has infiltrated the highest reaches of the U.S. government. It describes Cuba’s espionage campaign as “one of the most durable and damaging foreign intelligence penetrations in American history”.

Cultivation of American Activists

Havana is accused of recruiting and cultivating generations of American activists to further its anti-American agenda. The report claims Cuba has influenced “a disproportionate share of America’s most famous and influential extremist movements” in an effort to “turn America against itself”.

Backing Left-Wing Terrorism

The State Department alleges that Cuba has backed an unprecedented wave of left-wing terrorism on American soil. The report outlines how Cuba positioned itself as the center of anti-American forces worldwide, conducting extensive infiltration of left-wing political groups in the U.S. to foment violence and chaos.

The DSA Connection

The report dedicates an entire section to the DSA, which it describes as a “particularly potent illustration of the ideological victory of Cuba’s effort to position itself as the spiritual capital of Third Worldist radicalism”. The report acknowledges the DSA was not founded as a Cuban intelligence front, but argues it has adopted “a fierce, almost religious commitment to the cause of the Cuban regime”.

Third Worldism

The report outlines how Cuba became the world capital of Third Worldism โ€” a variant of Marxism that portrays the primary global struggle as one of the oppressed Third World against the oppressor First World, led by the U.S..

Historical Context

The report draws on declassified Cold War intelligence and publicly known spy cases. It cites several examples of Cuban espionage:

The “Cuban Five,” convicted of infiltrating civil society groups in Florida in the 1990s
Ana Montes, who spied from a senior position within the Defense Intelligence Agency
Walter Kendall Myers, a State Department intelligence analyst who pleaded guilty to spying for Cuba
Victor Manuel Rocha, a former U.S. ambassador to Bolivia who pleaded guilty to spying for Cuba

The report also mentions Assata Shakur, who has lived as a fugitive in Cuba for decades after being convicted of murdering a New Jersey state trooper.

Political Context

The report comes amid a broader Trump administration campaign against Cuba. President Trump reinstated Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism on his first day back in office in 2025. The U.S. has imposed an effective oil embargo on the island, contributing to multiple full-scale blackouts across the country.

In 2025, the U.S. military overthrew Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro โ€” a long-time supporter of the Cuban government. Trump has repeatedly signaled that the Cuban government could be next to fall to U.S. pressure.

The report also comes as the U.S. prepares for midterm elections later this year, and Trump has revived Cold War-style rhetoric portraying left-wing U.S. political figures as a communist “menace” that must be cut out “like a cancer”.

Cuban Reaction

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez has denounced the report, calling it “the latest lie” from the State Department. He accused Rubio of attempting to justify the ongoing economic war against Cuba. Cuban President Miguel Dรญaz-Canel also condemned the report, describing it as “neo-McCarthyism”.

Critics, including members of Congress, have accused Rubio of manufacturing a McCarthyite threat to justify further aggression against Cuba.

What the Report Does Not Say

Critics have noted that much of the report contains little new information, relying largely on declassified Cold War intelligence and publicly known spy cases. The allegations remain unsubstantiated in many areas, and the report has been criticized as a political document designed to pressure Cuba.

Conclusion

The State Department’s report marks a significant escalation in U.S.-Cuba tensions โ€” but whether it represents a genuine intelligence assessment or a political instrument remains a matter of debate. For Rubio and the Trump administration, the document serves as both a historical indictment of Cuban communism and a justification for further pressure on the island.

For Cuba, it is yet another act of aggression from a superpower that has spent decades trying to overthrow its revolution.

Der Bericht mit dem Titel โ€žCuba: The Capital of 21st Century Communismโ€œ (Kuba: Die Hauptstadt des Kommunismus im 21. Jahrhundert) wurde am 20. Juli 2026 verรถffentlicht.

Unterstรผtzung linksterroristischer Gewalt

Trump Declassifies Documents Alleging China and “Deep State” Interference in 2020 Election

Trump Declassifies “Cover-Up” Documents, Accuses China and “Deep State” of 2020 Election Interference

In a primetime address from the White House, President Donald Trump declassified intelligence he claims exposes Chinese hacking and a “deep-state” cover-up in the 2020 electionโ€”contradicting official U.S. intelligence assessments that found no evidence Beijing altered the vote he lost.

The Primetime Address

On Thursday evening, Trump delivered a 25-minute primetime speech from the White House, accusing the American election system of falling “catastrophically short” of required standards. He announced the declassification of a trove of documents that he claimed had been “kept secret and hidden” from both him and the American people by the intelligence community.

The centerpiece of his allegation: China had “illicitly acquired” 220 million U.S. voter filesโ€”including names, addresses, phone numbers and party affiliationsโ€”in what he called “the largest compromise of election data in history”. Trump further alleged that U.S. intelligence agencies deliberately “suppressed information” about the extent of China’s activities, framing the declassification as an exposure of a “cover-up”.

He also used the speech to push lawmakers to pass the SAVE America Act, a suite of controversial election law changes requiring proof of citizenship to register to voteโ€”legislation that remains stalled in the Senate.

The Documents: What They Actually Show

The White House simultaneously launched a website releasing hundreds of pages of declassified documents. However, early reviews from multiple news organizations found that much of the material appeared to show the opposite of what Trump claimedโ€”or was not related to U.S. election infrastructure at all.

CNN’s review found that the documents largely discussed previously known potential vulnerabilities that were already included in a 2021 assessment from the U.S. intelligence community. One CIA document concerned Venezuelan elections, not American ones. Another document noted that “tallying systems are extremely difficult to manipulate on a large scale to affect election outcomes”.

Perhaps most tellingly, conservative journalist John Solomon, who worked with the White House on releasing the documents, acknowledged after the speech that the intelligence community had “zero evidence that a foreign power flipped a vote in 2020, 2022 or 2024″โ€”a striking admission undermining years of Trump’s claims.

The Intelligence Community Contradiction

Trump’s allegations directly contradict official U.S. intelligence assessments. A 2021 report by the U.S. National Intelligence Councilโ€”conducted under John Ratcliffe, then Trump’s Director of National Intelligence and now his CIA Directorโ€”stated with “high confidence” that China did not interfere in the 2020 presidential election.

The assessment found “no indications any foreign actor attempted to alter or succeeded in altering any technical aspect of the 2020 presidential election vote, including voter registrations, ballots, tabulations or results”.

It assessed that China “probably also continued longstanding efforts to gather information on U.S. voters and public opinion” and had done so since at least 2008โ€”but that China did not actually interfere in the 2020 election. The report stated this was probably because Beijing “did not view either election outcome as being advantageous enough for China to risk blowback if caught”.

The “Deep State” Allegation

Trump asserted that members of the intelligence community deliberately “suppressed” information about China’s activities, framing the declassification as an exposure of a “deep-state” cover-up.

However, the evidence he presented does not support this narrative. Much of the information he citedโ€”including China’s acquisition of voter registration dataโ€”was already known and documented in the 2021 assessment. Voter registration data is publicly available in the United States; some states post it online, and many others allow people to freely request it. Having access to voter rolls does not necessarily allow anyone to commit fraud.

As David Becker, executive director for the Center for Election Innovation and Research, put it: “The reality is: voter files in the United States are public”.

Reactions: Praise, Criticism, and Skepticism

Republicans largely praised the speech and echoed Trump’s calls to pass the SAVE America Act. However, Senate Majority Leader John Thune indicated that Senate Republicans are focused on 2026, not relitigating Trump’s 2020 defeat.

Democrats blasted the address, accusing Trump of attempting to sow doubts about the security of the upcoming November midterm elections. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer posted: “Let’s be clearโ€”in America, voters choose their leaders, not the other way around”.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington denied the allegations, stating: “China has never and will never interfere in the presidential elections of the U.S.”.

Election experts were largely unimpressed. Becker argued: “This administration has been in total control of the federal government for 18 months… and at the end of that 18 months, all we got is more rehashed, debunked conspiracy theories, many of which we’ve known about before and already knew didn’t affect our elections”.

MIT election expert Charles Stewart noted that among the declassified documents, there is no evidence of any votes being manipulated.

A Warning for 2026

Despite the lack of new evidence, the speech is being viewed as a significant political signal. With the midterm elections less than four months awayโ€”and Republicans defending their congressional majoritiesโ€”Trump’s decision to deliver this address has raised concerns about his willingness to accept potential electoral losses.

CNN noted that given Trump’s history of falsely claiming elections that don’t go his way are riggedโ€”and the violence that resulted on January 6, 2021โ€”the speech “should send shivers down the spine of the American body politic”.

Trump deklassifiziert Dokumente โ€“ wirft China und “Deep State” Wahlbetrug 2020 vor

Die Dokumente: Was sie tatsรคchlich zeigen

Die “Deep State”-Behauptung

Wie David Becker, Geschรคftsfรผhrer des Center for Election Innovation and Research, es formulierte: “Die Realitรคt ist: Wรคhlerdateien in den Vereinigten Staaten sind รถffentlich”.

JD Vance Confirms Epstein Had “Clear Connections” to Israeli and U.S. Intelligence โ€“ Full Joe Rogan Interview Bombshell

Vance Drops Epstein Bombshell: “Clear Connections” to Israeli and U.S. Intelligence

Vice President JD Vance has publicly confirmed what conspiracy theorists have long suspected โ€” that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein had “clear connections” to the highest levels of both American and Israeli intelligence. In a bombshell three-hour interview with Joe Rogan, Vance also admitted the Trump administration “absolutely screwed up” the release of the Epstein files.

“Mossad or CIA or Some Other Deep State”

Nearly an hour and 47 minutes into the interview, Rogan directly asked Vance: “Well, most people think he [Epstein] was Mossad.”

Vance responded without hesitation: “Yeah, Mossad or CIA or some other deep state, whether in America or Israel or another country”.

He then elaborated: “He clearly had connections to the upper, the highest levels, of American intelligence. He clearly had connections to the highest levels of Israeli intelligence”.

When pressed on whether there was documentary evidence, Vance conceded: “The answer is no. But if that existed, it wouldn’t exist in 2026”.

Epstein and the Israeli “Deep State”

Vance went further, claiming Epstein’s Israeli connections were specifically to left-of-center elements of the Israeli “deep state” โ€” not to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing government.

“As much as I know, you know, Prime Minister Netanyahu, not a particularly popular person in the United States of America right now, Epstein seemed to be connected to the elements of the Israeli deep state that were left of center”.

He contrasted this with Epstein’s American connections: “In America, he was connected across the board. He had Republican friends, he had Democratic friends. He had much deeper connections to the Israeli left of center than right of center. I don’t know what that means”.

Vance noted Epstein’s association with former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, whose politics have shifted to the center. Barak has denied wrongdoing and said he regrets the relationship.

“One of the O.G. Epstein Conspiracy Theorists”

Vance openly embraced his role as a conspiracy theorist on the Epstein case, describing himself as “one of the O.G. Epstein conspiracy theorists”.

He had previously told hosts on “The View”: “I am frankly kind of a conspiracy theory on the Epstein stuff. I think that it’s crazy that you have this guy who is clearly a sex predator who is hanging out with a lot of wealthy and powerful people”.

During the Rogan interview, Vance also floated a “separate conspiracy” โ€” that Epstein served as the “tax guy” for billionaire Les Wexner, suggesting he may have gained blackmail material through financial services.

“We Absolutely Screwed Up”

Vance made a rare admission about the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein files: “If people want to say we mishandled the Epstein release, guilty. We did mishandle, especially the communications of it. We absolutely screwed up the comms of the Epstein files”.

He suggested a different approach: “I think that we should have just dropped everything at the very beginning; and obviously it takes a little time to review the stuff, to find the stuff, to redact things where you have victims and so forth. But we should have just done it as quickly as possible”.

The Department of Justice released more than three million pages, 2,000 videos, and 180,000 images in January under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

The Evidence Gap

Despite Vance’s claims, no evidence has emerged to confirm Epstein worked as an intelligence asset.

An FBI memo from 2020 noted that one source believed Epstein “was a co-opted Mossad agent” who had been “trained as a spy,” but this remained uncorroborated. The released files show extensive email correspondence with senior Israeli politicians, including Ehud Barak and Mossad veteran Yoni Koren, who was a regular visitor to Epstein’s New York residence.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett publicly denied allegations that Epstein worked for Israel or its intelligence agency. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also addressed the topic on social media.

Israel, Iran, and the “Go to Hell” Message

Vance used the interview to launch a broader attack on what he called an Israeli campaign to undermine his Iran ceasefire deal. He claimed elements in Israel are running a “very discreet, extremely well-funded campaign” to sway U.S. public opinion and keep the war going “indefinitely”.

He pointed to a Time magazine report that Brad Parscale โ€” a digital strategist for Trump’s 2016 campaign โ€” led a pro-Israel social media campaign targeting young conservatives.

Vance’s message to those Israelis was blunt: “My response to that is, well, go to hell”.

A Widening Rift

The interview marks a significant escalation in the public rift between the Trump administration and Israel. Vance’s willingness to embrace conspiracy theories about Epstein and intelligence agencies โ€” while simultaneously attacking Israeli influence operations โ€” signals a dramatic shift in tone from a vice president who once described himself as a strong supporter of Israel.

Whether his claims about Epstein’s intelligence connections will be substantiated remains to be seen. But the fact that the second-highest elected official in the United States is publicly airing them marks a watershed moment in the Epstein saga โ€” one that will reverberate through Washington, Tel Aviv, and beyond.

Epstein und der israelische โ€žDeep State”

Ich weiรŸ nicht, was das bedeutet.”

Er hatte bereits frรผher in der Sendung โ€žThe View” gesagt: โ€žIch bin ehrlich gesagt eine Art Verschwรถrungstheoretiker, was die Epstein-Sache betrifft.

Israel, Iran und die โ€žGo to Hell”-Botschaft

Palantir’s Secret “Dialog” Society Exposed โ€“ Elon Musk, NATO General, U.S. Senators Among 222 Elite Leaked

Palantir’s Secret “Dialog” Society Exposed โ€“ 222 Elite Participants, Bizarre Agenda, and Deep Political Ties

A massive data leak has exposed the secretive “Dialog” society co-founded by Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel. The leak reveals a staggering overlap between private wealth, political power, and military leadership โ€“ with attendees including Elon Musk, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander General Alexus Grynkewich, and an agenda featuring sessions like “Navigating WWIII” and “Build-a-Cult.”

The Source of the Leak

The data was discovered by Swiss hacktivist Maia Arson Crimew โ€“ known for her previous publication of the U.S. “No Fly List.” The directories were found in the source code of Dialog’s website dialog.org and were visible to anyone visiting the site. The data, stored in the commercial database Airtable, included nearly 200 detailed profiles with addresses, private phone numbers, birth dates, emergency contacts, food allergies, and self-reported political leanings.

Crimew passed the information to WIRED, which independently verified the data and additionally obtained a separate registration list for the 2026 retreat from a confidential source. That list contains 222 names for the event planned for August 12-16 near Dublin. The venue, Powerscourt Estate, confirmed to the Irish Examiner that the event has been canceled due to the controversy.

Dialog โ€“ The Secret Society of the Super-Rich

Dialog was founded in 2006 by Peter Thiel and data broker Auren Hoffman. The organization describes itself as a “nonpartisan, invitation-based community” and holds annual private retreats at exclusive locations โ€“ most recently at the Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain in Arizona, the Ritz-Carlton Santa Barbara, and the San Clemente Palace in Venice. The participation fee exceeds $16,000.

The membership directory lists 113 individuals, while the retreat list includes 222 participants for August 2026. Of these, 87 are marked as first-time attendees, while others have been members for up to a decade or since the founding 20 years ago.

The Bizarre Agenda

The retreat agenda reads like a list of absurd seminar titles:

ยท “Build-a-Cult” โ€“ moderated by the founder of the Christian networking platform Pray.com
Navigating WWIII”
How’s Your Sex Life?”
Battlefield Technologies”
Bring Back Nuclear”
Money (Does?) Buy Happiness”
Build-a-Party”

The Explosive Revelations

Connections to Jeffrey Epstein

The leaks show that Dialog invited Jeffrey Epstein to its 2014 retreat. Epstein was already at the center of abuse allegations at that time. Thiel and Epstein maintained a relationship that continued until 2019.

Dating Platform for Elites

Dialog operates a matchmaking service, asking participants whether they are “looking for love” and maintaining a separate dating platform for members.

Secret Member Ratings

Internal documents show that Dialog assigns ratings for each member.

Personal Data in Plain Text

The database contained sensitive information: relationship status, self-rated talents (from “funhouse construction” to “meditative and psychedelic research”), and political leanings (“Far Left,” “Left,” “Right,” “Far Right”).

The Reactions โ€“ Distancing and Denials

Several individuals named have publicly distanced themselves:

Jared Polis: “Governor Polis is not a member of this organization, whatever it is. He does not know why his name is being associated with it.”
Kaja Kallas: The EU denies her participation.

Josh Brolin: His representative stated he does not understand his inclusion.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ezra Klein, and Gen. Stanley McChrystal indicated they had attended several conferences but are not members.

The Political Dimension โ€“ A Washington Scandal

The revelations have caused outrage in Washington. Particularly explosive: Jim Himes, the ranking Democratic member of the House Intelligence Committee, which oversees Palantir contracts with intelligence agencies, appeared on the same list as Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale.

The use of private email addresses for registration circumvents public disclosure requirements.

Conclusion

The Dialog leak reveals a shadow world of power where the boundaries between private enterprise, military, and politics systematically blur. While the organization has operated in secrecy for 20 years, a single security breach has exposed a network raising questions about conflicts of interest, influence peddling, and democratic oversight. The bizarre agenda and connections to Epstein raise additional questions โ€“ and the distancing attempts by those named only make the matter more mysterious.

Kaja Kallas: Die EU bestreitet ihre Teilnahme.

Gabbard Releases Explosive Biolab Documents โ€“ Over 120 U.S.-Funded Labs Exposed

Gabbard’s Biolab Disclosure: A Window into the Hidden World of U.S. Research Funding

On June 12, 2026, outgoing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released comprehensive intelligence documents revealing the U.S. government’s long-standing funding of more than 120 biological laboratories across over 30 countries.

The Release at a Glance

The disclosure was published on the official ODNI website under the press release “DNI Gabbard Reveals Evidence of U.S. Taxpayer-Funded Global Biolab Program”. Gabbard simultaneously announced the release on the platform X:

“Today, I’m releasing never before seen intelligence revealing new evidence of past US government funding for more than 120 biolabs in over 30 countries, including Ukraine.”

The documents are the result of months of searching through Intelligence Community holdings and files and rank among Gabbard’s final major official acts before her resignation effective June 30, 2026.

The Contents of the Released Documents

The publication includes:

An interactive map showing laboratory locations worldwide
Detailed information on funding streams and research priorities
Lists of stored pathogens, including anthrax, Ebola, MERS, SARS, and plague
Evidence of Gain-of-Function research on highly dangerous pathogens

Particularly sensitive: More than 40 laboratories are located in Ukraine โ€“ a circumstance that, according to Gabbard, poses a significant security risk due to the ongoing war. These facilities reportedly conducted research on Especially Dangerous Pathogens (EDPs).

One slide within the new ODNI report states that more than 40 laboratories in Ukraine were built or supported through U.S. government funding.

The Political Context

The disclosure comes in direct connection with President Trump’s Executive Order 14292 of May 25, 2025, which ended federal funding for Gain-of-Function research worldwide.

Gabbard used the release for sharp attacks on the previous administration:

“Despite the obvious potential for catastrophic global impact research on dangerous pathogens in biolabs can have, politicians, so-called health professionals like Dr. Fauci, and entities within the Biden administration’s national security team lied to the American people about the existence of U.S.-funded and supported biolabs, and threatened those who attempted to expose the truth.”

Gabbard further alleged that the information had been “knowingly withheld” from the American public and that those who spoke out were accused of being foreign assets and traitors.

Critics, however, accused Gabbard of reviving Kremlin-backed disinformation narratives. The topic of U.S. biolabs in Ukraine had previously been repeatedly instrumentalized by Moscow as a justification for its invasion. Outlets noted that Gabbard had earned the nickname “Russia’s girlfriend” in Russian state media for her repeated promotion of pro-Kremlin claims.

Conclusion

The biolab release of June 12, 2026, marks another climax of Gabbard’s controversial tenure as Director of National Intelligence. While supporters welcome the disclosure as a long-overdue act of transparency, critics see it as the continuation of a politically motivated campaign that places scientific institutions under blanket suspicion and provides narrative material for adversarial propaganda.

What is certain: The now-publicly accessible documents offer a rare glimpse into the global research infrastructure of the United States โ€“ and are likely to fuel the debate over security, oversight, and the ethical boundaries of biological research for a long time to come. Gabbard also issued new guidance to the Intelligence Community directing increased collection on these overseas facilities, raising significant ethical, financial, and security concerns.

Gabbard’s Final Act: Declassified Documents Implicate Fauci in COVID-19 Origins Debate

On her last day as Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard released a trove of documents that she claims prove Dr. Anthony Fauci influenced intelligence community assessments on the origins of COVID-19 and lied under oath to Congress.

A Farewell with Political Explosiveness

On June 19, 2026 โ€“ Gabbard’s final working day as head of U.S. intelligence โ€“ the outgoing Director of National Intelligence released hundreds of pages of previously unpublished communications and internal documents. The release followed a year-long review under President Trump’s “Maximum Transparency” executive order.

In a video statement accompanying the release, Gabbard accused Fauci of using his relationships within the intelligence community to shield himself from scrutiny and to influence the government’s assessments of the pandemic’s origins.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has caused immense suffering and pain to millions of our fellow Americans and countless people around the world,” Gabbard said in her statement. “After years of lies, censorship, and cover-ups, the American people deserve transparency, truth, and accountability.”

The Core Allegations Against Fauci

According to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) , the released documents allegedly demonstrate the following:

  1. Influence on Intelligence Assessments: Fauci participated in discussions regarding the intelligence community’s review of COVID-19 origins during his tenure as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) . He provided recommendations on which experts to consult and helped shape assessments that were later presented as scientific consensus.
  2. Cover-up of Contacts: An August 2021 email from the Intelligence Community Inspector General cites a whistleblower complaint alleging that Fauci made “false statements before Congress.” Fauci had testified in his 2024 appearance before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic that he had no knowledge of discussions with intelligence agencies regarding virus research. However, the newly released documents show multiple interactions between Fauci and intelligence officials.
  3. Funding of Research at the Wuhan Institute: The ODNI alleges that Fauci oversaw the funding of coronavirus research involving bat viruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. This research allegedly involved “gain-of-function” studies and is linked to a possible laboratory accident.
  4. Suppression of Dissenting Views: The documents purportedly show that Fauci collaborated with politicized career officials within the intelligence community to suppress the truth about the lab origins of the virus. Gabbard further claimed that intelligence officials suppressed dissenting voices, including those who supported the lab-leak hypothesis.

The Contents of the Release

The publication includes:

Internal communications among intelligence officials
Whistleblower statements from employees who alleged retaliation for questioning official assessments
Intelligence materials related to debates over the pandemic’s origins

Particularly explosive: A July 2021 internal email shows that intelligence officials considered Fauci a “SME” (Subject Matter Expert) “who likely knows better than most who the true coronavirus experts are.” Officials wanted to take his recommendations into account when contacting scientists during the Biden administration’s 90-day review in 2021.

An assessment report from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory dated May 2020 concluded that conditions in Wuhan were conducive to the “accidental release of a laboratory-modified coronavirus.”

At the same time, the documents also contain indications that intelligence officials rejected Fauci as an external reviewer of their COVID-19 origins assessment โ€“ on the grounds that he had a conflict of interest.

Reactions and Context

The release came amid a power struggle over Gabbard’s succession. President Trump had appointed Bill Pulte as acting director, drawing criticism from both parties in the Senate. Senate Majority Leader John Thune warned: “We don’t need a weapon called the DNI; we need professionals there.”

Critics, however, pointed out that the released documents do not provide definitive evidence for the alleged connections. The U.S. intelligence community has still not reached a definitive conclusion on whether the virus originated from a laboratory or through natural transmission. The documents have not been independently verified.

Fauci himself has repeatedly denied the allegations, calling them “ridiculous” during a June 2024 hearing. He emphasized that both a natural origin and a laboratory accident are possible explanations for the emergence of the virus, with available evidence in his view pointing more toward natural transmission โ€“ though not definitively.

Conclusion

The document release of June 19, 2026, marks one of the final and most controversial acts of Tulsi Gabbard’s tenure as Director of National Intelligence. While supporters welcome the publication as a long-overdue step toward greater transparency, critics see it as a politically motivated attempt to reignite the debate over the pandemic’s origins just before Gabbard’s departure.

What is certain: The question of COVID-19’s origins and the role of the U.S. government in pandemic response remains politically and scientifically contentious โ€“ and the newly released documents are likely to fuel this debate for a long time to come.

The original declassified documents are available on the official ODNI website at http://www.odni.gov/index.php/newsroom/reports-publications/reports-publications-2026/4165-fauci-funded-wuhan-lab-research-that-sparked-covid.

Press Briefing by Senior Administration Officials on the Killing of Osama bin Laden

Via Conference Call
12:03 A.M. EDT

MR. VIETOR:ย  Thank you, everyone, for joining us, especially so late.ย  We wanted to get you on the line quickly with some senior administration officials to talk about the operation today regarding Osama bin Laden.ย  And with that Iโ€™ll turn it over to our first senior administration official.

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  Thanks for joining us, everybody, at this late hour.ย  Itโ€™s much appreciated.ย  From the outset of the administration, the President has placed the highest priority in protecting the nation from the threat of terrorism.ย  In line with this, we have pursued an intensified, targeted, and global effort to degrade and defeat al Qaeda.ย  Included in this effort has been a relentless set of steps that weโ€™ve taken to locate and bring Osama bin Laden to justice.ย  Indeed, in the earliest days of the administration, the President formally instructed the intelligence community and his counterterrorism advisors to make the pursuit of Osama bin Laden, as the leader of al Qaeda, as a top priority.

In the beginning of September of last year, the CIA began to work with the President on a set of assessments that led it to believe that in fact it was possible that Osama bin Laden may be located at a compound in Pakistan.ย  By mid-February, through a series of intensive meetings at the White House and with the President, we had determined there was a sound intelligence basis for pursuing this in an aggressive way and developing courses of action to pursue Osama bin Laden at this location.

In the middle of March, the President began a series of National Security Council meetings that he chaired to pursue again the intelligence basis and to develop courses of action to bring justice to Osama bin Laden.ย  Indeed, by my count, the President chaired no fewer than five National Security Council meetings on the topic from the middle of March — March 14th, March 29th, April 12th, April 19th, and April 28th.ย  And the President gave the final order to pursue the operation that he announced to the nation tonight on the morning — Friday morning of April 29th.

The President mentioned tonight that the pursuit of Osama bin Laden and the defeat of al Qaeda has been a bipartisan exercise in this nation since September 11, 2001, and indeed, this evening before he spoke to the nation, President Obama did speak to President Bush 43 and President Clinton this evening to review with them the events of today and to preview his statement to the nation tonight.

And with that, Iโ€™ll turn it over to my colleague to go through some of the details.ย  Thank you.

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  As you heard, the President ordered a raid earlier today against an al Qaeda compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.ย  Based on intelligence collection analysis, a small U.S. team found Osama bin Laden living in a large home on a secured compound in an affluent suburb of Islamabad.ย  The raid occurred in the early morning hours in Pakistan and accomplished its objective.ย  Osama bin Laden is now no longer a threat to America.

This remarkable achievement could not have happened without persistent effort and careful planning over many years.ย  Our national security professionals did a superb job.ย  They deserve tremendous credit for serving justice to Osama bin Laden.

Bin Laden was a sworn enemy of the United States and a danger to all humanity; a man who called for the murder of any American anywhere on Earth.ย  His death is central to the Presidentโ€™s goal of disrupting, dismantling, and ultimately defeating al Qaeda and its violent allies.ย  He was responsible for killing thousands of innocent men and women not only on 9/11, but in the 1998 East Africa embassy bombing, the attack of the USS Cole, and many other acts of brutality.

He was the leader of a violent extremist movement with affiliates across the globe that had taken up arms against the United States and its allies.ย  Bin Ladenโ€™s most influential role has been to designate the United States as al Qaedaโ€™s primary target and to maintain organizational focus on that objective.ย  This strategic objective, which was first made in a 1996 declaration of jihad against Americans, was the cornerstone of bin Ladenโ€™s message.

Since 9/11, multiple agencies within our intelligence community have worked tirelessly to track down bin Laden, knowing that his removal from al Qaeda would strike a crippling blow to the organization and its militant allies.ย  And last September the President was made aware of a compound in Abbottabad, where a key al Qaeda facilitator appeared to be harboring a high-value target.ย  He received regular intelligence updates, as was just mentioned, on the compound in September, and he directed that action be taken as soon as he concluded that the intelligence case was sufficiently strong.ย  A range of options for achieving the mission were developed, and on Friday he authorized the operation.

Now Iโ€™ll turn it to my colleagues to go through the intelligence.

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  Thank you.ย  First I want to point out that todayโ€™s success was a team effort.ย  It was a model of really seamless collaboration across our government.ย  Since 9/11, this is what the American people have expected of us, and today, in this critical operation, we were able to finally deliver.

The operation itself was the culmination of years of careful and highly advanced intelligence work.ย  Officers from the CIA, the NGA, the NSA all worked very hard as a team to analyze and pinpoint this compound.ย  Together they applied their very unique expertise and capabilities to Americaโ€™s most vexing intelligence problem, where to find bin Laden.

When the case had been made that this was a critical target, we began to prepare this mission in conjunction with the U.S. military.ย  In the end, it was the matchless skill and courage of these Americans that secured this triumph for our country and the world.ย  Iโ€™m very proud of the entire team that worked on this operation, and am very thankful to the President for the courage that he displayed in making the decision to proceed with this operation.

With that, let me turn to my colleague to give you details on the intelligence background.

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  Thank you.ย  The bottom line of our collection and our analysis was that we had high confidence that the compound harbored a high-value terrorist target.ย  The experts who worked this issue for years assessed that there was a strong probability that the terrorist that was hiding there was Osama bin Laden.

What Iโ€™d like to do is walk you through the key points in that intelligence trail that led us to that conclusion.ย  From the time that we first recognized bin Laden as a threat, the CIA gathered leads on individuals in bin Ladenโ€™s inner circle, including his personal couriers.ย  Detainees in the post-9/11 period flagged for us individuals who may have been providing direct support to bin Laden and his deputy, Zawahiri, after their escape from Afghanistan.

One courier in particular had our constant attention.ย  Detainees gave us his nom de guerre or his nickname and identified him as both a protรฉgรฉ of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of September 11th, and a trusted assistant of Abu Faraj al-Libbi, the former number three of al Qaeda who was captured in 2005.

Detainees also identified this man as one of the few al Qaeda couriers trusted by bin Laden.ย  They indicated he might be living with and protecting bin Laden.ย  But for years, we were unable to identify his true name or his location.

Four years ago, we uncovered his identity, and for operational reasons, I canโ€™t go into details about his name or how we identified him, but about two years ago, after months of persistent effort, we identified areas in Pakistan where the courier and his brother operated.ย  Still we were unable to pinpoint exactly where they lived, due to extensive operational security on their part.ย  The fact that they were being so careful reinforced our belief that we were on the right track.

Then in August 2010, we found their residence, a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, a town about 35 miles north of Islamabad.ย  The area is relatively affluent, with lots of retired military.ย  Itโ€™s also insolated from the natural disasters and terrorist attacks that have afflicted other parts of Pakistan.ย  When we saw the compound where the brothers lived, we were shocked by what we saw — an extraordinarily unique compound.ย  The compound sits on a large plot of land in an area that was relatively secluded when it was built.ย  It is roughly eight times larger than the other homes in the area.

When the compound was built in 2005, it was on the outskirts of the town center, at the end of a narrow dirt road.ย  In the last six years, some residential homes have been built nearby.ย  The physical security measures of the compound are extraordinary.ย  It has 12- to 18-foot walls topped with barbed wire.ย  Internal wall sections — internal walls sectioned off different portions of the compound to provide extra privacy.ย  Access to the compound is restricted by two security gates, and the residents of the compound burn their trash, unlike their neighbors, who put the trash out for collection.

The main structure, a three-story building, has few windows facing the outside of the compound.ย  A terrace on the third floor has a seven-foot wall privacy — has a seven-foot privacy wall.

Itโ€™s also noteworthy that the property is valued at approximately $1 million but has no telephone or Internet service connected to it.ย  The brothers had no explainable source of wealth.

Intelligence analysts concluded that this compound was custom built to hide someone of significance.ย  We soon learned that more people were living at the compound than the two brothers and their families.ย  A third family lived there — one whose size and whose makeup matched the bin Laden family members that we believed most likely to be with Osama bin Laden.ย  Our best assessment, based on a large body of reporting from multiple sources, was that bin Laden was living there with several family members, including his youngest wife.

Everything we saw — the extremely elaborate operational security, the brothersโ€™ background and their behavior, and the location and the design of the compound itself was perfectly consistent with what our experts expected bin Ladenโ€™s hideout to look like.ย  Keep in mind that two of bin Ladenโ€™s gatekeepers, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Abu Faraj al-Libbi, were arrested in the settled areas of Pakistan.

Our analysts looked at this from every angle, considering carefully who other than bin Laden could be at the compound.ย  We conducted red team exercises and other forms of alternative analysis to check our work.ย  No other candidate fit the bill as well as bin Laden did.

So the final conclusion, from an intelligence standpoint, was twofold.ย  We had high confidence that a high-value target was being harbored by the brothers on the compound, and we assessed that there was a strong probability that that person was Osama bin Laden.

Now let me turn it over to my colleague.

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  Thank you.ย  Earlier this afternoon, a small U.S. team conducted a helicopter raid on the compound.ย  Considerable planning helped prepare our operators for this very complex mission.ย  Senior officials have been involved in the decision-making and planning for this operation for months, and briefed the President regularly.ย  My colleague has already mentioned the unusual characteristics of this compound.ย  Each of these, including the high walls, security features, suburban location, and proximity to Islamabad made this an especially dangerous operation.

The men who executed this mission accepted this risk, practiced to minimize those risks, and understood the importance of the target to the national security of the United States.

I know you understand that I canโ€™t and wonโ€™t get into many details of this mission, but Iโ€™ll share what I can.ย  This operation was a surgical raid by a small team designed to minimize collateral damage and to pose as little risk as possible to non-combatants on the compound or to Pakistani civilians in the neighborhood.

Our team was on the compound for under 40 minutes and did not encounter any local authorities while performing the raid.ย  In addition to Osama bin Laden, three adult males were killed in the raid.ย  We believe two were the couriers and the third was bin Ladenโ€™s adult son.

There were several women and children at the compound.ย  One woman was killed when she was used as a shield by a male combatant.ย  Two other women were injured.

During the raid, we lost one helicopter due to mechanical failure.ย  The aircraft was destroyed by the crew and the assault force and crew members boarded the remaining aircraft to exit the compound.ย  All non-combatants were moved safely away from the compound before the detonation.

Thatโ€™s all I have at this time.ย  Iโ€™ll turn it back to my colleague.

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  We shared our intelligence on this bin Laden compound with no other country, including Pakistan.ย  That was for one reason and one reason alone:ย  We believed it was essential to the security of the operation and our personnel.ย  In fact, only a very small group of people inside our own government knew of this operation in advance.

Shortly after the raid, U.S. officials contacted senior Pakistani leaders to brief them on the intent and the results of the raid.ย  We have also contacted a number of our close allies and partners throughout the world.

Sine 9/11, the United States has made it clear to Pakistan that we would pursue bin Laden wherever he might be.ย  Pakistan has long understood that we are at war with al Qaeda.ย  The United States had a legal and moral obligation to act on the information it had.

And let me emphasize that great care was taken to ensure operational success, minimize the possibility of non-combatant casualties, and to adhere to American and international law in carrying out the mission.

I should note that in the wake of this operation, there may be a heightened threat to the homeland and to U.S. citizens and facilities abroad.ย  Al Qaeda operatives and sympathizers may try to respond violently to avenge bin Ladenโ€™s death, and other terrorist leaders may try to accelerate their efforts to strike the United States.ย  But the United States is taking every possible precaution to protect Americans here at home and overseas.ย  The State Department has sent guidance to embassies worldwide and a travel advisory has been issued for Pakistan.

And without a doubt, the United States will continue to face terrorist threats.ย  The United States will continue to fight those threats.ย  We have always understood that this fight would be a marathon and not a sprint.

Thereโ€™s also no doubt that the death of Osama bin Laden marks the single greatest victory in the U.S.-led campaign to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat al Qaeda.ย  It is a major and essential step in bringing about al Qaedaโ€™s eventual destruction.

Bin Laden was al Qaedaโ€™s only (inaudible) commander in its 22-year history, and was largely responsible for the organizationโ€™s mystique, its attraction among violent jihadists, and its focus on America as a terrorist target.ย  As the only al Qaeda leader whose authority was universally respected, he also maintained his cohesion, and his likely successor, Ayman al-Zawahiri, is far less charismatic and not as well respected within the organization, according to comments from several captured al Qaeda leaders.ย  He probably will have difficulty maintaining the loyalty of bin Ladenโ€™s largely Gulf Arab followers.

Although al Qaeda may not fragment immediately, the loss of bin Laden puts the group on a path of decline that will be difficult to reverse.

And finally, itโ€™s important to note that it is most fitting that bin Ladenโ€™s death comes at a time of great movement towards freedom and democracy that is sweeping the Arab world.ย  He stood in direct opposition to what the greatest men and women throughout the Middle East and North Africa are risking their lives for:ย  individual rights and human dignity.

MR. VIETOR:ย  With that weโ€™re ready to take a couple questions.

Qย ย ย  One question.ย  You said โ€œa small U.S. team. Were these military personnel, can you say, or non-military?

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  Canโ€™t go into further details at this time; just a small U.S. team.

Qย ย ย  Good morning.ย  Can you tell us specifically what contact there was with bin Laden at the compound?ย  You referred to someone using a woman as a shield that was not bin Laden.ย  But how was he killed?ย  Where?ย  What occurred at the compound?

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  As the President said this evening, bin Laden was killed in a firefight as our operators came onto the compound.

Qย ย ย  Thank you.ย  Just to go back to what you were talking about with the attacks in response to this operation, are you hearing any specific threats against specific targets?

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  No.ย  But any type of event like this, it is very prudent for us to take measures so that we can ensure that the security measures that we need to institute here and throughout the world are in place.ย  This is just something that we normally would do.ย  We donโ€™t have any specific threats at this time related to this.ย  But we are ensuring that every possible precaution is taken in advance.

Qย ย ย  Yes, hey, how are you doing?ย  My question would be, what was the type of the helicopter that failed?ย  And what was the nature of that mechanical failure?

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  Canโ€™t go into details at this time.

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  We didnโ€™t say it was mechanical.

Qย ย ย  Was bin Laden involved in firing himself or defending himself?ย  And then any chronology of the raid itself?

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  He did resist the assault force.ย  And he was killed in a firefight.

Qย ย ย  Thank you.ย  Thank you for taking this call.ย  Can you give me a comment on the very fact that Osama bin Laden was just in Islamabad — and has long been (inaudible) Afghanistan (inaudible) also from India, that Osama bin Laden is hiding somewhere near Islamabad?ย  What does it signify, that?ย  Does it signify any cooperation or any kind of link that he had with establishments in Pakistan?

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  As the President said, Pakistani cooperation had assisted in this lead, as we pursued it.ย  So weโ€™re continuing to work this issue right now.ย  We are very concerned about — that he was inside of Pakistan, but this is something that weโ€™re going to continue to work with the Pakistani government on.

Qย ย ย  But the very fact you didnโ€™t inform the Pakistani authorities — did you have any suspicion that if you informed them, the information might lead somewhere?

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  An operation like this that is conducted has the utmost operational security attached to it.ย  I said that we had shared this information with no other country, and that a very, very small group of individuals within the United States government was aware of this.ย  That is for operational security purposes.

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  I would also just add to that that President Obama, over a period of several years now, has repeatedly made it clear that if we had actionable intelligence about Osama bin Ladenโ€™s whereabouts, we would act.ย  So President Obama has been very clear in delivering that message publicly over a period of years.ย  And thatโ€™s what led President Obama to order this operation.ย  When he determined that the intelligence was actionable and the intelligence case was sufficient, he gave us high confidence that bin Laden indeed was at the compound.

Qย ย ย  Thank you.ย  What is going to happen next?ย  And what is the U.S. going to do with bin Ladenโ€™s body?

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  We are ensuring that it is handled in accordance with Islamic practice and tradition.ย  This is something that we take very seriously.ย  And so therefore this is being handled in an appropriate manner.

MR. VIETOR:ย  Great, thanks.ย  Just to remind everyone, this call is on background, as senior administration officials.ย  We have time for one more question, and weโ€™re going to go to bed.

Qย ย ย  Do you have a sense of the vintage of the compound and how long bin Laden had been there?

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL:ย  The compound has been in existence for roughly five years, but we donโ€™t know how long bin Laden lived there.ย  We assess that the compound was built for the purpose of harboring him.ย  But again, donโ€™t know how long heโ€™s been there.

MR. VIETOR:ย  Great, thank you all.ย  Weโ€™ll talk more tomorrow.
