According to a legend from the 19th century, the truth and the lie meet one day. The lie says to the truth: “Today is a wonderful day”! The truth looks at the sky and sighs, because the day was really beautiful. They spend a lot of time together and finally arrive next to a fountain. The lie tells the truth: “The water is very beautiful, let’s bathe together!” The truth, again suspicious, tests the water and discovers that it is really very nice. They take off their clothes and start bathing. Suddenly, the lie comes out of the water, puts on the truth’s clothes and runs away. The angry truth comes out of the fountain and runs everywhere to find the lie and get its clothes back. The world, seeing the truth naked, averts its gaze with contempt and anger.
The poor truth returns to the well and disappears forever, hiding her shame in it. Since then, the lie travels around the world, disguised as the truth, satisfying the needs of society, because the world has no desire to meet the naked truth in any case.

The world famous painting “The truth comes out of the well” Jean-Léon Gérôme, 1896.
