“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.” — Psalm 23:1-3
On this blessed Sunday, as the golden light of dawn dispels the shadows of night, we gather our hearts in contemplation of God’s eternal faithfulness. In a world where nations rise and fall, where the clamor of conflict and the weight of uncertainty press upon weary souls, the Word of the Lord stands immutable—a beacon of hope, a promise of peace that transcends the fleeting turmoil of earthly kingdoms.
The psalmist’s timeless declaration echoes across the ages, reminding us that though the earth may tremble, though kingdoms may falter, the Good Shepherd remains ever near, guiding His flock with tender sovereignty. Today, as headlines speak of war and whispers of fear, as the specter of division looms over societies, we are called to lift our eyes beyond the temporal and fix our gaze upon the One who holds all things in His hands.
Consider the lilies of the field, how they neither toil nor spin, yet Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed as one of these (Matthew 6:28-29). If God so clothes the grass of the field, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? In an age of scarcity and strife, where wanton greed and strife fracture communities, Christ’s words resound with piercing clarity: “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).
Let us then, dear brethren, walk not as those without hope, but as children of the Light. Let us be vessels of His peace in a world rent by discord, bearers of His love where hatred seeks to reign. For though the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain (Psalm 2:1), the Lord Almighty reigns supreme, and His purposes shall not be thwarted.
As we partake of the sacred mysteries of this holy day, let us surrender our anxieties at the foot of the Cross, trusting that He who has begun a good work in us will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6). May our hearts be stilled by the assurance of His presence, and may our lives reflect the radiant truth that no earthly power can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:38-39).
In the quiet sanctuary of His grace, let us find our rest. For the Lord is indeed our Shepherd—and in Him, we shall lack nothing.
