Location: The throne room. A minor vampire lord from a neighboring territory is scoffing at Edith’s “lenient” rule.

Vampire Lord:
“A mistress who fraternizes with her butler? Who employs a golem? The old families are laughing, Edith.”

Edith (her eyes darkening from red to the black of a starless night):
“They will not laugh. They will kneel. And you, little lord, will be the message.”

The air crackles. The lord is forced to his knees not by magic, but by the sheer weight of her presence.

Location: The castle grounds, buzzing with new energy.

Edie (riding Barry’s shoulder, using a laser pointer):
“That battlements crenellation is 0.5 centimeters too low! It offends her magnificence! Barry, rectify!”

Barry the Golem:
“RECTIFYING. ALSO REPLACING FLAG OF SURRENDER FROM 1789 WITH BANNER OF DOMINION.”

Vlad Dracula (watching from a distance, adjusting his cravat):
“She’s not just redecorating; she’s rewriting reality’s décor. I find it… unignorably attractive. Damn it.”
