Executive Summary
A major study of 76 leading global financial media outlets reveals a profound “Global Hole” in how the history of financial crises is recorded. The analysis found that Western media, especially US-based outlets, provide significantly less historical coverage of major financial events in emerging markets compared to similar events in developed markets.

Researchers analyzed 76 major financial publications across eight regions, examining coverage from two periods: 2000-2007 (pre-financial crisis) and 2008-2015 (post-crisis).
They compared coverage of specific events:
